One of the many statues at Central Park, Balto the dog is not only a good boy but so is his statue!

Very easy to access from the street; Balto is a fun statue to visit! Plus take in the sights and sounds of local street music that sets the tone for the space!

Parking along the street if you have a car or walk into the park from one of the many entrances.

Beautiful statue of the dog. Info about the dog is written under the statue… it’s all about how he helped deliver foods to the Alaskans during some kind of calamity.
All in all the statue is quite pleasant to the eyes.
This statue can be found in Central Park..
Entering my 2nd decade as a DC tour guide, I have visited the Woodrow Wilson House many times, but have been reticent to write a review for fear of revealing my Go To 'hidden gem'! Guests rarely know of its existence and always come away in amazement at the meticulous preservation of Wilson's last home and also leave with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the 28th President and (in my opinion) his grossly underrated 1st Lady, Edith! The house is an absolute treasure trove and time capsule of the 1st quarter of the 20th Century and has remained such because Mrs. Wilson lived there, changing very little, until her death in 1961, oddly enough on what would have been Wilson's 105th birthday.

My most recent visit to the Woodrow Wilson House was to attend a lecture, featuring the famed scholar of international relations, Dr. Mary Habeck. Dr. Habeck offered incredible insight into the current crisis between Ukraine and the soon-to-be re-Soviet Union. Listening to such a smart, concise explanation of the long history of this conflict (dating back almost 1000 years) was extraordinary enough, but to witness/ participate in this breakdown of such a momentous current event - in the drawing room of a Nobel Peace Prize winner - was borderline surreal!

The Woodrow Wilson House receives zero government money and is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and does not shy away from Wilson's more controversial aspects. Other historic venues should take notes! Whether a history buff visiting Washington, DC or a local interested in current events through the prism of our past, put the Woodrow Wilson House on your list of things to do - I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind if you made a donation, either! There it is: the cat is officially out of the bag!
The colleagues and I had a quick trip, so I didn't get the image I really wanted. Overall, this is a highly photogenic location. It's also fine to simply hang around the pool as well.

It was super cool to see! We just happened upon the statue while we were strolling through central park.
A must-see place
I didn't get to go to the white house but my short amount of time as a small kid in washington DC Gave me a respect and love for my home that many people have forgotten that needs to be never forgotten.
We visited over the holiday season 2021 / 2022.

The pool and loop of memorials would make a good morning walk with a coffee. It does get quite crowded, so just keep that in mind.
In pictures online you never see how filthy the water actually is. When you get right up to it it's kind of nasty. I have seen cleaner ponds on farms.

I've always wanted to see this statue after seeing the cartoon movie. It was so much fun to finally get to see it
Amazing view, calming vibes. Love that there's a large paved path on both sides of the reflecting pool. We were able to bike down this area while strolling through the area.

Dumbarton is a remarkable venue for a small and intimate wedding. They have a beautiful garden (with a lovely brick backdrop) for the ceremony and an outdoor cocktail hour. We had the reception in a lower level tented area complete with interior bar and dance floor. Street parking is difficult to find.
This is my favorite building in all of Washington, DC. You can feel the power of history from the steps, imaging events like Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech. The building is a classic and perfect form. The views of the Washington monument and Capitol building are incredible. A short walk from the building you can check out the WWII memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam War Memorial. It is also a nice walk from here to the Washington Monument. Love this monument!
Beautiful place, well worth the trip to DC to visit this lugerious place.

Balto is a very good boy. Some may say the best of boys. A true American hero that doesn't have any downsides, just a pure good boy.
It'll s very good it
This reflecting pool is absolutely gorgeous, especially at night time. If you go to the Lincoln memorial and look across the reflecting pool at night, you get an amazing view of the Washington Monument reflected. If you go in the daytime, it can get quite busy, but there are lots of areas around the sides to sit, relax and have a picnic if you wish. Definitely recommend visiting.
Even though the pool was drained for maintenance during my visit I still enjoyed it a lot!

There was a little strip of water left in the middle that reflected Lincoln memorial as well as Washington monument so I didn't completely miss the experience. In fact it gave me a unique opportunity to walk on the concrete bottom surface of the pool and take some amazing pictures! It is a very photogenic place regardless of whether the pool is full or not.

I personally liked the atmosphere more in the evening/early in the morning when Lincoln memorial was still lit up and the sky was dark blue.

It’s a nice area for a walk, however due to the popularity of this place you won’t enjoy it just by yourself (people were around as early as 6:30 AM in March). It was extremely busy during the cherry blossom festival even though there are no cherry trees in the pool's proximity!

Visited in March 2023.
Wow! Best place to visit.
I booked a tour online and really enjoyed myself. The exhibits are arguably a bit more on the (end of the) history of slavery than Woodrow Wilson, but the two are intertwined. Shortly after I got home, I discovered that my guide had sent me a postcard answering a question I had surprised her with during the tour. Note that the tour does not start at the house itself, but rather a short walk over at the gift shop.
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was designed by Henry Bacon, constructed in 1922-1923, following the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial. It is approximately 2,030 feet (620 m) long and 167 feet (51 m) wide. It has a depth of approximately 18 in (46 cm) on the sides and 30 in (76 cm) in the center. It holds approximately 6,750,000 US gallons (25,600,000 liters) of water.
Part of the iconic image of Washington, the reflecting pool hosts many of the 24 million visitors a year who visit the National Mall. It is lined by walking paths and shade trees on both sides. Depending on the viewer's vantage point, it dramatically reflects the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Mall's trees, and/or the expansive sky.

Nice statue, worth a visit!

Shame the statue doesn’t give the recognition to the dog that it’s based on, instead there is a very generic inscription referring to all service dogs!

We had our wedding at Dumbarton House last year. They have a great team and are well prepared to work with repeat vendors to ensure success. For anyone considering this venue: The site allows for great "sectioning" where dinner setup, cocktail hour, and family photos can all be happening on site simultaneously with no one bumping into each other. Highly recommend the garden for cocktail hour, just know you'll need lighting. Doing this frees up the entire "upper deck" of house, upper terrace, north garden etc for photos with no one seeing or in your way.
Perry Belmont House is definitely an underrated attraction in Washington DC. It's a spectacular example of Beaux-Arts architecture in the city. Independent designs of each hall and the strange harmony of symmetry and asymmetry make the building very unique. The house was completed in 1909 and it has been serving as a headquarters for the Order of the Eastern Star. • Free and guided visits are possible, you just need to contact them and schedule a day and time.
Amazing

Very nice historic site and interiors. Small parking lot a plus for visitors. But many steps up to the site.
Lindo como cada unas de las fontanas o esculturas del Central Park. En específico, este lugar tiene muchas cosas lindas. Un gran sitio dentro del parque.
So beautiful with wings spread out it feels as she is floating a top of the waters. My family enjoyed visiting Central Park a historical site that feels exactly like your home In the middle of the city. We visit with every trip to New York!

Best wedding and location. Everything (service & food) left me speechless
What an amazing place! As a member of the Order of Eastern Star, this place holds a special place in my heart!
Now, don't get me wrong, I managed to take the fattest dook of my life in this restroom, but I felt kinda exposed. I'd only recommend it if you need a quick stop after a late night Taco Bell.
Great place to visit. They are working on refurbishing it. It has a lot of good history and potential.

Stunning Georgetown venue. I am a photographer who found their staff to be great and the entire place to be picture perfect.
It was fantastic. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the history of the house and the the work being done to restore it to it's original beauty. A site to behold.

Interesting history & loved the story of how women led preservation efforts. Not slot to see, but worth an hour or so of time.

My party payed $10 each for a self-guided tour. Much of the museum was closed off and, although there were some interesting rooms (I think there were three in total), the entire experience was very underwhelming. I love this sort of thing and so have gone to a lot of similar places, and this simply was not well done. If it were free I would give it a better review, but paying $10 for it was ridiculous. Would not suggest.

The tour last one hour, but arrive about 20 min early to view a short video summarizing Wilson’s life and presidency. A knowledgeable docent leads you through the sitting room, dining room, bedrooms, and kitchen. Artifacts, furniture, and portraits are explained in each room. Be sure to check out the interactive room at the end where you can sit at a desk or couch and try on spectacles and hats while posing with a phonograph and old telephone from Wilson’s era.

Dumbarton House is a historic house in Georgetown built in 1800 when the federal government was in Philadelphia and not D.C. It was a private residence until 1928 when it became the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America HQ. Four years later, they opened a house museum inside.

They offer tours for $10 and it takes you through the house museum on the ground floor and the exhibit on the second floor, which rotates every six months. There's also a large garden on the property as well.

Dumbarton House also hosts some of the most unique events in the city- 1) The Dumbarton House in Georgetown hosts some of the most unique events in the city- 1) Jane Austen movie nights on July Wednesdays in the garden, 2) Ice cream making on the lawn in honor of First Lady Dolley Madison, 3) Afternoon tea for families, and 4) Chamber music concerts.

If you love events and history, it's worth a visit. The staff are also very friendly and very knowledgeable about D.C. and the museum industry.
Wonderful museum!. A must see. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the metro. It's a slice of American & personal history in quiet and affluent neighborhood. Enjoy the walk. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Great statue honoring Christopher Columbus in Midtown Manhattan. It's located in Columbus Circle which is at the south west corner of the famous Central Park. Its easily accessible by New York City Transit from the 59th St - Columbus Circle Station using the A,B,C,D and 1&2 trains. Many busses also stop here. Theres many places to see and visit in this area.
Very elegant great 4 wedding anniversary special events we highly recommend this for your next celebration

This is an awesome place, a mansion, to have an upscale reception or event in general. Any spot is great for a picture, and they are making upgrades too. A must see if you are in the heart of Dupont Circle.
Awkwardly located but a moving tribute.
The house is only open to tour with a staff member. Tour is an hour. It was very interesting and the docent was knowledgeable. Made history come alive with little known facts and stories. Well worth a visit.

Highly recommend paying the $10 Tour, $5 for students. They give you all the details that you wouldn’t know without the tour.

Tours are self-guided.
Garden open, weather permitting.

The President Woodrow Wilson House offers an intimate look at one of America’s greatest Presidents, statesman and Nobel Prize winner. View authentic objects from the White House and elaborate gifts of state. This Embassy Row house is a living textbook of “modern” American life in the 1920s from silent films to flapper dresses and zinc sinks.
Frankly sharing with you there is not much to see and move around the white house. Visited this place in 2013 and a bit disappointed. One can see WH from a far distance. It is just ritual to visit this place while in DC/USA.

There are two tours for The White House: The East Wing tour and the West Wing tour. The East Wing is the standard tour where you get tickets through your Representatives' office. The tour itself walks you through the public parts of the White House- where the state dinners are, etc. Recently, they lifted the "no photo" ban on the East Wing so now is the time to go. It's super fun to say you were at the White House and this tour seems well and good....until you learn about the West Wing tour.

The West Wing tour is where the action is. It's the tour of the press room, the cabinet meeting room, the Oval Office, and all the other exclusive, private areas of the White House. This tour can only be accessed through someone who works at the West Wing, but it's SUPER cool!

Both tours require giving your social security number for security reasons.
