Friday was first time, for the Halloween Party with DJ Woody. I had a great time. The people and staff are friendly felt welcomed. The music had me on the floor dancing until closing. The cake was delicious & coffee tasty . In future I will go back.
I attended their first in person grant info session since 2019 earlier this sept 2023. There were excellent presentation and provided wealth of information. And answered everyone’s questions with clarity.

The worst place I've ever been. The director, "Stephanie" is a mean-spirited, hateful woman. Her relative, "Joey" works there also. The staff appropriates clothing donations meant for residents. I actually saw them trying donated clothes on - jackets and Ugg boots that never made it to the residents.
Stephanie will oppose residents who want to transfer to a different facility. Things are bad enough at this shelter, but this staff is unexcusable.

I lived and worked as an artist in Brooklyn for 39 years, until my recent move upstate.. Very early on as a restdent of Brooklyn I listed myself as a working artist with BAC. I know they do some good things but I rarely heard about them until it was too late and I was never invited to participate in any of their affairs. I tried contacting them several times about specific opportunities, activities and/or the exhibitions in the two
galleries I ran in Brooklyn (Wisteria in Carroll Gardens & Space Statuon in Park Slope) over the course of 7 years At these two venues I preseented & promoted over 100 working Brooklyn arists. Art lovers, students(from both here and abroad), teachers, art critics, and artists that would become or were famous passed through but the Brooklyn Arts Council never did.
The possibility of doing a collaborative effort with BAC in 2 non-profit spaces was there for the taking but I was never approached. It was if I, and my efforts to support Brooklyn living artists (including) myself) did not exist . If that's their idea of "support" or "community" then I would be careful of a bridge they might want to sell you simply because it shares the name "Brooklyn". In my mind they are nothing more than another self-gratifying, certificate waving political organization with their own set agenda. Good bye and thanks for absolutely nothing.

Great place for seniors
Quality staff really care for seniors.
A lot of choices to spend quality time for example painting classes emazing teacher
Marta a director has great skills to support all senior needs
Disgusted with the lack of competence regarding staff that are held to a high title (all it is just that… a title) and standard. The director is incompetent who lacks common sense, seriously need to get their ish together within themselves and their staff. The staff there are rude af (esp. if you’re calling regarding one of their residence whom you work with). They like to do the CYA method a lot (instead of actually doing their job.) The resident there are treated horribly is disgusting. Oh and lets not talk about lack of proper record and information keeping, regarding conflict of interests and handling issues with certain mentally unstable residence. Get tf together.

Inept staff that can’t even handle working here. Any arguments with these women (shocker women fighting in a shelter) they call 911.
Any thing they can’t handle - 911. Security is a joke the director has no balls. A whole reinvention of this shelter needs to be done. Nobody is safe there especially when everyone’s afraid of these women residing there
So glad and relieved im out
I survived thank God
I can't say what it is like right now. I can imagine if the same director is still running the place as when I was there for 9 mos from end of August of 2016, maybe 8/25/16 to 5/13/2017. I found out about my job transfer on the 12th. The 13th I moved out. I give Camba House Bushwick Brooklyn a 3 because of the director and at least 2 staff members that were not good at their job. The rest of the staff and most of the residents were good people and courteous to each other. I had a roommate pass away in my arms and I will never forget Miss Little. I knew nothing about her but I will never forget that night. I think that broke me. The director of the shelter and those 2 staff members made the experience there so bad and most likely for most of thw staff I would imagine.
It feels like a club. The members are friendly and lively. The lunch includes soup and some kind of salad.
A great arts advocacy organization.
Great place to meet people, have breakfast, Lunch, play Bingo! There are many things to do here, Exercise, Reading, Drawing and Coloring, dancing, learning about healthy eating, the people are friendly and the Staff is Great! Very Nice Place for Seniors.
It also is a "Cooling Center"
Clean place
Ok. Offers able seniors a recreation place with a meal & service info. Crowded but looks nice.
Excellent staff. 💖👌🏽
Elderly are treated nicely, the workers do there best to make you feel welcomed and Compfortable. Plus the place is kept Cheerful and most of all it's kept 'Clean".😃
One of the main culture hub in Brooklyn folk art project and program are main attractive
Such a Wonderful Lively and Kind 😃 community of people! Exhilarating Live Music and DJ, Dancing and fun everytime I Visit!
I was originally excited by this organization and their programming. I signed up to do the experiential peacebuilding training in Mexico. The communication from the organization was very minimal and unprofessional leading up to the conference. I had to send multiple emails to get a response and responses were extremely delayed. Also, essential information regarding the agenda/itinerary for the trip was not included in their communications. I was left in the dark and felt like I was extremely inadequately prepared due to their lack of professionalism. However, the biggest complaint comes because they ultimately cancelled the training just days before it was to take place. This was completely unacceptable as I had invested a significant amount of money in non-refundable flights and hotels. I found this cancellation to be utterly irresponsible. Additionally, their handling of attempting to rectify the situation is underwhelming to say the least. They seem to be refusing to accept responsibility for their actions and do not seem to think they were in the wrong to cancel an international professional training just days before it was to take place. My excitement for this organization has shifted to incredible mistrust and disappointment. I sincerely hope they do something to shift my opinion back.

Need I say more? Brooklyn Arts Council is THE arts grantor in Brooklyn. They support local arts in the midst amazing ways. Please - get involved.
This place has been so great for my Dad. I never thought he would even give this place a chance. I convinced him to take a quick tour and he was hooked. All of sudden he seems more engaged and looks forward to visiting the center. Special thanks to Barbara for making him feel welcome.
it's basically in the dead center of East New York . Not a nice place to be.
They only request a dollar for a complete hot meal with juice, coffee, tea, milk and bread & butter @ noon. Cannot beat what they give the seniors ....if you are looking for daily activities, access to shopping trips and good healthy food....this is the place to check out.

Even though the offering has increased to $1.50, you will not find a better bargain. Fresh soups & hot meals daily, coffee & cake available every day (Mon-Fri), diversified activities from seated areobics, yoga once a week, art shows...if you are senior, this is a great place for you.
The Narrows Senior Center has moved to 933 54th Street.
I interned there. This place is full of nice people and nice staff. I would visit again and again
Great staff and a great philosophy!

To be fair, this is my first time at CAMBA. so far I have this fish out of water feeling which shall pass soon enough. My room has ten beds, one bathroom. I don't plan on spending lots of time here so my review might not be a fair one. But the staff is very nice so far.

It's been a harrowing three years. I can't wait till leave this place. The shelter system leaves a whole to be desired. They need better food and kinder staff members. No one wants to be in a shelter so why do some want to make you miserable.
Everything people are great party's are out of this world been going to this center for 2 years now make lots of friends workers are sweet to the seniors food is servers to your table bingo is great also play cards they have computer class and dance class Zumba also I find it a great place to be so come and have fun
United Senior Citizens Center is one of the best senior center I have ever visit. Grisel Amador was a very pleasant and admirable women. She took the time to answer any questions and concerns when ever it was needed. My grandmother really enjoys their hospitality. After so many research this is the best senior center in New York City. Everyone gets along together, the place is always kept nice and clean. The staff are very friendly and help when ever need. Very thankful and very blessed with their ambitious desire to provide such great company and support to these people.
