A hidden gem, one of those places you ask "why isn't it more popular?" It IS popular because there were plenty of visitors. What a great indoor/outdoor museum. Friendly and lively staff. Beautiful in any season.
Tranquil place with grounds that are open long hours. Note that the woodland trail seem to be closed because of a closed gate you can see from a distance but it is not. The gate is to keep deer, not people, out. One garden also doesn't necessarily lead to another so look at the map if you don't want to miss anything.
The staff was the standout. They were friendly and helpful and perceptive. Not as epic as the Flex in Cleveland but I like all the mirrored doors and clean with the right touch of sleaze. Certain parts were a bit too cold though
Great place for excellent local theater
There is a big caveat for my high rating: it is NOT a place for everybody. However, if you want to fish or explore in an area which is essentially an urban ruin where the forest is reclaiming the structures, or you are a photographer or someone who loves abandoned places, this is the spot for you. It is the best area for urban explorers I've encountered since the demolition of Henryton State Hospital. There is trash all around and there are dark tunnels which burrow deep into the darkness. Proceed with caution and avoid the place after nightfall, unless, of course, you love that kind of thing.
