For more than 80 years, The Whittier Art Gallery has showcased the artworks of renowned Southland artists for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Lisa Keffer, Yukiko Avila, and Lynn Azali are just some of the artists featured. A number of events and workshops are held throughout the year.

A gift shop is also on-site; this is where you’ll find unique items for sale, including jewelry, handcrafted ornaments, paintings, and more.
Whittier Museum
2020 Sep 01
Before starting your exploration around Whittier and its surrounding areas, it’s a good idea to learn as much as possible about the city and its history. The best way to do that is with a visit to the Whittier Museum.

This museum is run by the Whittier Historical Society to collect, preserve, and share the city’s history.

During a visit, you’ll see many exhibits, including a Victorian Cottage from the early years of the 20th century, a display showcasing the life of Richard Nixon, and a blacksmith shop.
Local historical societies in small cities and towns across the country often get overlooked by all but the savviest travelers, but for those interested in learning about an area’s history, they’re great community resources that should be taken advantage of.

The Hawthorne Historical Society Museum was established as a not-for-profit organization in 2011. Since then, it has been preserving and highlighting the city’s unique past.

The Museum is located in Jim Thorpe Park on Prairie Avenue and includes a small but impressive collection of local historical memorabilia.

The facility has limited hours, so check online or give them a call before heading over.
Dwarkadhish Temple
2020 Jun 22
An important Hindu Pilgrimage spot dedicated to Lord Krishna, Dwarkadhish Temple is also known as Jagat Mandir. This is one of the four Char Dhams, and thus it had to be featured in this list of 10 historical places of Gujarat. Supported by 72 pillars, this five-storeyed archeological marvel is said to be as old as 2200 years, as per the findings.

The temple is located in Gomti creek, and is always flocked by crowd of pilgrims, especially during the grand celebration of Janmashtami. During this time of the year, the temple and idols are decorated colorfully with garlands, ornaments and different elements. The vibe is full of zest in the locale, making it a must visit!
