A fairly standard branch of Pets at Home, products to suit most pet needs, cats, dogs, birds, rodents, fish, etc. The store's a bit smaller than some branches I've visited but well stocked and tidy. Prices are fairly standard for Pets at Home, not the cheapest or most expensive. The aquatics section is small, a good range of chemicals, treatments, tools, etc. The range of fish is also small compared to a lot of Pets at Home branches. Mollies, Platys, Guppies, some fighters and tetra. Want something more varied, check out local aquatics dealers. Though Pets at Home have just started adding some new fish to their offering panda corydoras, apple snails, etc.
The post office counter is to be found at the back of the store. I visited here to send a parcel abroad. I first visited seven months ago and was impressed with this branch. However, I revisited today and was served by the same member of staff. First time I was served by her she was, lovely, friendly and thorough. This time she was rude, unhelpful and generally tried to be awkward. Also she had been gossiping to a aquatance of one of her friends (Karen). Karen was ill with Corona apparently. But she's a lovely person (apparently). Not that we wanted to know! Her colleague was clearly frustrated that she was gossiping and keeping customers waiting. The queue built up, all because we had to learn about Karen! In short, a bad experience caused by one member of staff being too concerned with hyperbole and not her work, plus her general attitude.
Quite simply one of the best independent aquatic centres in the country. The variety of fish on offer here is second to none. If you want something special besides all the regular types of fish (this shop stocks those too), the owner curates something special bringing together a unique selection of regular and rare tropical and temperate fish together in one place. An extensive range of aquarium's and dry goods is available here too. I've visited over 70 aquatics centres in the UK, this is the best.
This museum is really great. It shows what can be achieved by local people chronicling the history of their local area. I've visited here several times over about a decade. It never disappoints, it isn't expensive to get in unlike some places and you'll spend several hours here learning things about the local area. You can also access the ruins of Walden Castle in the museum grounds.
