The location is worth more than the food I tried. Just ok, nothing more and rather distant from the soba one could truly enjoy in Japan. Good for a quick bite downtown at a reasonable price during the lunch break, although at the same price there are so many options in close proximity that offer high-quality meals.
The review is based on a pre-booked order of a series of fruit pieces. I want to start off by saying that the goods coped really well with a rather long flight within Europe. At pickup the store was empty, with no queue in sight. I was ushered in by a very kind person, who also allowed me to take pictures of the façade. In the hallway, I was greeted by another member of the staff, who retrieved the order, collected it and showed it to me. He then proceeded to pack it and further gave me tips for optimal storage and serving. We tried the pear tatin, the kumquat and the pine nut. Even thought all of them were exquisite in their own distinct way, I believe that the pine nut was absolutely one of the best sweets (if not the best) I have ever eaten. It was pure perfection, including the sharp but short-lasting salty note. These treats are definitely expensive but I guess they should regarded more as art than “simple” excellent baking skills. Thank you thank you thank you!
It is rather easy to find good pizza in Malmö and Mastio is in my personal top 3. I like the simple menu with a few choices centered around quality ingredients. The pizza itself may not be the traditional Neapolitan pizza but it is delicious. Very crispy and light crust,
and never soggy despite the generous topping. The interior is really nice and they tried to do their best to ensure safety during these coronavirus times. I also enjoyed a rather strong Negroni (first time I matched it with pizza!). The price is high but not more than other comparable places, and within the expected Swedish range. The service was relaxed and kind. I loved the location, as it really far out the city center.
I imagine it being pretty amazing during summer. Looking forward to a new visit!

This review is based on the Christmas menu offered by the restaurant. Together with the fantastic 3-course dinner (and a small bite of delicious cheese from Androuet) we also had an incredibly good and perfectly fitting wine package to complement the meal. A special mention for the tenderness and juiciness of the meat in the main course, it was heaven. The only thing I did not find spectacular (but still very good) was the dessert, as I am not particularly fond of total-chocolate sweets. The service was attentive and friendly.
An upscale Japanese restaurant focusing on sushi, even though small warm dishes and vegetarian options are available. The interior is very modern and rather elegant, with details clearly inspired by the Japanese tradition. I really liked the open kitchen and the service-minded staff. We were welcomed with our toddler and we could enjoy our dinner without any stress. We pre-ordered our food, So we just had to pick our drinks and we also added a dessert at the end. I had a sake tasting set and it complemented incredibly well the dishes we had. We decided not to opt for larger sharing platters but created our own combination and also ordered the scrumptious steamed pork buns. The sushi was delicious, the rice was perfect and covered with generous amount of fish. The buttered scallop melted in the mouth and the sea bass was great too. I think the simplicity and genuineness of the preparation made it so good. I have travelled for a month through Japan and this sushi reminded me of the flavorful food I ate there. We also found the dessert a fantastic final treat, very delicate yet incredibly rewarding. Expensive, but worth it
