Neat place. I like how they have it such that the nocturnal creatures are active during the day

The Small Mammal House at the free DC zoo is a charming and compact exhibit that houses a delightful collection of furry creatures. Despite its size, it offers an intimate encounter with a variety of small mammals, including adorable meerkats, curious hedgehogs, and playful squirrel monkeys. The exhibit is thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable and stimulating environment for these small animals, making it an enjoyable stop for visitors of all ages. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or simply seeking a quick and heartwarming experience, the Small Mammal House at the free DC zoo is sure to leave a lasting impression
Beautiful animals. Good information about their conservation status and biology. I was really surprised for the good job they did with the environments for animals like the mole.

My favorite spot in the Zoo. Too bad it gets too crowded. Try going early, at least by 10 am or so. People try to rush you but if the Sand Cat or the Fennec Fox are still hiding, wait on the bench (don't get out or you have to make a line again) and check when they are going to be fed.

Very fun exhibit. All the animals here are very cute and lively. Several of the displays of nocturnal mammals have the lighting inverted so that visitors can see them during the day. There was a line when I visited to enter, but it was quick.
