For one of the best things you can do in New York, the Staten Island Ferry is it.
The night is nice, but I'd say coming during the day is much better for pictures šø.
The ā“ļø ferry takes about 25 minutes one way, and then you can run around to catch it to come back again.
The schedule š is decent, with boats leaving almost every 30 min.
Did I mention it's FREE! LOL, for NYC, that's a big deal.

It's fun to ride a boat for free, although there's a lot of guys outside trying to trick you into going on their boats for some reason. One of them was saying to everybody going up the steps "no you're going the wrong way! This goes to STATEN ISLAND!"
If you want to see New York . Like a New Yorker. Hereās your chance. Take a trip on the Ferry and Relax . This is to enjoy the city from a different view . A workers view . Workers take this ferry everyday to their jobs . On staten Island. Talk to one . To have a more accurate understanding of what it means to be a New Yorker. They will be glad to have a conversation with you . Now get off and enjoy staten Island . There is many food and photo opportunities. So enjoy the ride for what it is . A way to look at New York in a whole different way. Enjoy š
Free way of seeing the Statue of Liberty. The ferryās engine can go either direction, so just find a spot facing west.
If you have no plans to explore or stay at Staten Island, you should try to be one of the first few off the ferry so you can get on the ferry thatās heading back to Manhattan.

Absolutely one of my favorite things about New York when I visited.. 1st of all it's absolutely free it is a ferry ride that takes you from New York to Staten Island right by the statue of liberty some of the most amazing views that you will ever see you get off of the ferry at Staten Island and then rebored there are usually boats that go back-and-forth every 15 to 20 minutes . It was absolutely amazing and one of the best things about New York way to go.. It's open 24 hours a makes it awesome as well because you can go at sunset if you want you can go at sunrise whenever you like . Without a doubt the highlight of my trip.!! And I won't even mention a personal escort from NYPD boat Patrol. I would like to think it was because they knew I was on board but I doubt that

Within walking distance thereās an outlet mall, restaurants and some local craft breweries or you can just get back in line to the ferry and go back to Manhattan.

The ferry service is every half an hour and the ferries are big enough. Don't worry about crowding near the doors. Another tip is to be on the right side of the ferry whilst going to Staten Island to see the Statue of Liberty. You can also go to the back end of the ferry and you get a beautiful view of the skyline and also the statue.
