I loved this place at one time. A lot of the food places are closed now.

Hadn't visited in probably a year or two, since the CVS that used to be here closed. Had a craving for beef broccoli. There used to be a food court at the north end of the mall, with an Americanized Chinese restaurant down there, among several other options. But the old food court is kaput. There are still three or four restaurants in the main body of the mall, including a Quizno's and a Middle Eastern/burger place. I would have thought the City employees and Court workers nearby would be able to keep the food court going, but I guess not. Pretty empty down here, even during the noon hour. Sad.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the designated Los Angeles Mall sign. One thing to consider was the adjoining buildings of employees and visitors, giving a clue to the clientele. Next was seeing the homeless park, atop the plaza.
Thus the difficulty keeping what could be a vibrant, cheerful and comfortable mall experience for everyone!
There’s a few shops, services and eateries available. Areas with tables and chairs provide quick dining and meeting spots. Maintenance crews were visible keeping up the plaza. Cameras, security guards and police also provided public safety for those who wish to venture within.
The times I’ve been here, I’ve not seen many people, perhaps because because of the lack of shopping possible. Couldn’t there be more attractive tenants as the shopping centers on Figueroa Street? Wouldn’t large signs then help attract shoppers from the high traffic 101 Freeway, beyond the lunchtime crowd from surrounding buildings?
I guess the local parking expenses may also be a deterrent!
The lost business is apparent and the fact that the restrooms were closed gives a sense of a mall in decline!

This mall is really beat up and outdated, also they don't have a lot of stores like before. Quiznos is still there and some other not so well known stores. When you walk in here, you'll feel like it's one of those abandon mall that's is slowly going out of business. Even walking the stairs to go down to the lower level will give you an uneasy vibe because when I was walking back up to the surface street level, there was a shirt hanging from the ceiling and there were water leaks. There also a lot of dark corners and places where I don't believe you'll feel safe during the daytime or nighttime. I only came here to eat at Quiznos because I got pick for Jury Duty and this place was across the street.

Enter the Time Warp that is the Los Angeles Mall. This semi-underground indoor-outdoor temple of stucco is a true 60s survivor. Visit while you can. There are people who live 4 blocks away from this place who don't know it exists. Highly recommended for architecture and culture buffs. Can get a little dodgy.

I'm honestly not sure this mall is a real place.
I was there around 5 or 6 on a Friday, and there were absolutely zero people, and no stores open. How does this happen? What is the real backstory behind this mall? I have no idea.

This is some of the most prime land in the city and it's used by nothing
