A beautiful, peaceful site to visit in the Astoria region of Spain. Mountainous, so expect some steep up and down walking.

Free visit to this beautiful catholic shrine in the highlands of Asturias. Gothic cathedral from the 800 hundreds and tons of hiking trails.
Visually stunning however very very busy with coaches and tourists. There is a que and one way system to see the sanctuary. We visited midweek in September and we could just about park at behind the museum down a very steep slope. Parking here seems to all be free.
A beautiful place where you can spend half a day and learn something of history, real or not.
Lovely views from the sanctuary and Basilica. The sanctuary was crowded with a queue to access it but interesting to see. Not exactly a peaceful experience and must be much worse in the summer season. Lots of toilets around and the hotel on site has a cafeteria and a lovely restaurant. You can park on the way out of season if you are lucky with spaces or stop on the way and take a bus up which would be very necessary in high season.
Beautiful church. They had mass at the little chapel carved on the rock side. Pretty unique atmosphere. Very touristy but worth a visit if you’re in the area. You can walk from the parking lots in the valley below in Covadonga, however there is no pavement for pedestrians. There is a hiking path but it goes in and out of the main road. The other option is to take the bus. €9 round trip from the parking areas 1-2-3-4.
Beautiful place to visit. There is the sanctuary located in a cave and a Basilica in the area. Both are walking distance of each other.
Entry is free and car parking spaces are available. You can also catch the ALSA bus to the lakes from nearby if you are visiting in the summer.
