Great way to step out of the downtown city of Chicago and experience the lakefront of Chicago. It’s not very big, can get crowded on the weekends, but it’s a treasure.
I walked down to the beach today on Oak Street which I had map quested the directions from my daughters condo on Huron St. I found it an enjoyable walk and a vibrant and exciting day on a busy beach with fun people! Today was the annual air and water show on Lake Michigan so it was a fantastic show where there were plenty for ice cream vendors, music and swimming and a great time!!
It is a nice beach for one of the Chicago beaches. it is not too far from the downtown area and only a walk away and you'll be in the wonderful area of downtown Chicago. This beach does offer beach chairs and umbrellas for a price so it is a nice touch to the beach experience. I would go again but due to its location and lack of parking does make it a walk in beach.

We come to Oak st beach very often to play volleyball and Futvolley. There’s always a big group of church friends and people that will join us. Always a good time, specially when it’s sunny and hot!
We really enjoyed this nice small slice of beachy heaven! Fun for the entire family!
