Fantastic museum that is totally dedicated to the history of AVRO aircraft. Six family members spent most of the day here. I did the Vulcan cockpit experience and intend to return to do the other cockpits. My 13 and 9 year old grandsons found the place fascinating.
Amazing experience. Really knowledgeable guides - highly recommend going through the cabin tours. Wonderful stories and the passion you could feel from the tour guide.
Amazing staff. All lovely. Brian very informative. Alex showed us the flight simulator and Alastair gave us a tour of the Lancaster bomber (only Β£2 extra). I actually really enjoyed it!!
What a fantastic museum absolutely amazing well worth a visit very family friendly with interactive cockpits ect . A nice cafe & information that will blow your mind . If your a fan of aircraft especially the arrow rang Lancaster bomber & vulcan probably the most famous. Then this is a must see .
What a fantastic day I had at the Avro Heritage Museum. Home of the Lancaster bomber and my favourite the, Vulcan jet bomber. Awesome plane! Had a very good tour of the Vulcan cockpit 5 man crew, all the instruments still look functional and old school.

The museum has a lot to offer about the aircraft factory that was on this site and manufactured the Lancaster and the Vulcan. So much innovation went on here. You could spend at least a week looking at all the information on display.
The Museum building was once the old fire station for the airfield.
Restaurants on the first floor where you can have hot drinks and hot food to eat, and a good view of the Vulcan. The volunteers who serve are so nice and helpful and happy to share their knowledge about the site.
I went home with so much knowledge crammed into my head that it was leaking, and I want to come back to fill it with more information about this wonderful site. And see the Vulcan and sit inside the cockpit,πππππ just awesome!

Had an absolutely fantastic time there..we got a tour of the brilliant avro Lancaster full cockpit and its workings by a fabulous guide. The museum is well worth a visit especially for youngsters to take in the heritage of the site..highly recommend a visit to anyone whose in the area..top marks to all the staff..very friendly and informative πππππ―
This wonderful museum is on the site of the former Woodford Aerodrome. A V Roe established the site in 1924 for the production of his aircraft. It became particularly important during WWII, notably for Lancaster bombers. Unfortunately it closed in 2011 but with the enormous efforts of a dedicated band of enthusiastic volunteers the memories live on. The beautiful Vulcan was also built here and there is a complete original example on display along with a replica 1912 Avro Type F, a 1909 Triplane and a Lancaster cockpit. The history of the site, the planes built there and those who were part of Avro are superbly displayed. I've been several times as its so interesting. A bonus recently was flypasts by three different aircraft, including a Lancaster, and displays of classic vehicles during a Wings and Wheels weekend.
