An awesome addition to your trip to Staten Island. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff/volunteers. They sell very cool miniature light houses at a great price if you want a memorable gift or souvenir. Short walk from the ferry terminal.

I enjoyed seeing all the little replica lighthouses. I also enjoyed the 4-minute information video. The staff was very polite and helpful. They are supposed to move to a bigger location in about 3 years.

Highly recommended for a quick stop in SI. Bob was extremely knowledgeable and nice and provided an amazing tour for us. Learned so many interesting facts about lighthouses’ history.

A fun and fascinating museum, the National Lighthouse Museum is only a short walk from the St. George Staten Island Ferry Terminal. The museum offers a brief but engrossing history of lighthouses in the US, as well as a collection of miniature lighthouses from around the world and through history. The dedicated staff is friendly and explained the layout of the museum. Even the restroom is on point with a lighthouse theme! As of May 2023, it's a smaller institution which makes it a fairly quick but enjoyable visit. The lovely views of the Verrazano Bridge and the narrows from the nearby park are an added bonus.

I love lighthouses! But this is not a lighthouse converted to a museum. Instead, it is the national lighthouse depot that assembled French-made lens into lamps, fog horns, toilet paper holders, and whatever lighthouses needed. They are still in hopes for the restoration of the foundry and other buildings. The 4 minute film is informative, and the miniatures of many lighthouses were fun for me because I have visited more than one. If you ride the free Staten Island Ferry, it is just a few blocks away, then hop back on the ferry to get back to the Battery Park area.

Lovely museum. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to do the tour which was offered. Anyway, Charles did a great job introducing us into the world of lighthouses.

Great place to visit after a ride in the Staten Island ferry. Why not spend a little time and visit, easy walk from the ferry and close to several restaurants to get a bite before heading back to Manhattan. If you like lighthouses it is a must visit place.
