I would recommend visiting during all seasons. We are lucky to have the garden in Pittsburgh!
I've never noticed this before so I was pleasantly surprised to find it
Beautiful to go for a nice walk and spend a few peaceful hours relaxing with plenty of space to spread out and dog friendly of course!
Though it desperately needs repaired the decay and crumbling walls add a certain charm and of course it's a great place to take photos!
It's free, in a public park, and is open until 10pm, even on Memorial Day!
Mellon Park is adorable. Lots of space to sunbathe, run and play, bring your pup or set up chairs for visiting. There was some sort of photography session while I was there and still plenty of room to see the gardens and admire the plants. Everyone was friendly and engaging but respectful of the guidelines. That includes a young pair of women visiting from an appropriate distance in lawn chairs. Most people had masks on!
