Flaming Kitchen Markham

Comes occasionally for lunch on Sundays, have ordered the sizzling spicy rice cake a few times, it’s not really spicy at all, but I like the cheesy flavours and cheese can pull strings, got the supreme beef rice which was ok, this place usually never too busy, even on a Sunday.

It was alright—average food quality. We originally planned to go to Brown Donkatsu next door, but my partner entered this place by mistake. Intrigued by the pictures of their food, we decided to stay and eat here.

The food was pretty average. I low-key wanted to leave because the place looked super old and run-down. The seats were old, the leather was peeling, and the restaurant was literally empty when we arrived. The food was average, but the forks they gave us still had food stuck on them, which was kind of gross. I probably would not go back. I’m giving it 4 stars because the mushroom soup and chicken popcorn were decent.

There were a lot of food options on the menu, from main meals to desserts! My favourite of the bunch was definitely the popcorn chicken which was nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There is alot of space to sit down and enjoy your food.
They also have deals of the day that are cheap and affordable

We have the own choice of spaghetti 🍝. I ordered the spaghetti + Tom yum Thai sauce + duck breast, my friend other spaghetti + laksa sauce + salmon. Foods are tasty, rich favour of butter and cheese. Delicious! I finished the whole things in 10 mins which not a normal me.

Food was pretty bad tbh not worth the price in my opinion. Rice was stale for some reason. Hot plate was not cleaned properly could scrape grime off of the edges as I eat.
Portion size is awful for context the image in this comment is what you get for $10.

the rest of the appetizers were just okay, I really thought the appetizers would have more flavour.

but main course was great, would definitely come here again, great spot to go with friends, and many options on more to do just outside!

I've been to the Scarborough location of Flaming Kitchen many times, however today was the first visit to the Markham location. In summary, the experiences was poor overall.

The entryway is very small, crowded and limited seating. People waiting for seating are literally standing over your table while you eat your food, causing a very awkward situation. The location itself is tiny and cramped compared to the Scarborough location.

We ordered a mango slush, KitKat slush, 2 spicy flaming rice cake dishes, and a spicy Korean noodle and beef dish.

We received our slushies in a plastic takeaway cup with no lid (see pic), nothing like what is advertised. Small in portion size an not in the tall glass container. Very disappointed and different from what we are used to from the Scarborough location.

The rice cake/Tteok-bokki dishes were very obviously smaller portions even though we paid full price on a Thursday (see pic). Visible difference in comparison to other pics on here and in comparison to the Scarborough location I am used to. Not worth $12.41 for 9 pieces of rice cakes with only a couple of pieces of mushrooms for the entire dish. Additionally, the rice cakes were also not cooked properly as they were tough and undercooked. I know very well as this is my usual go-to dish at the Scarborough location.

As for the noodle dish, the portion again was noticeably smaller. Taste was average.

The waitresses did not come to our table for quite a while after we were seated and we had to flag them down. The food took a while to come out too. We got our drinks shortly after they took our order. Overall service was average and a little slow.

My friends and I unfortunately left disappointed and unsatisfied.

Unfortunately, I won't be revisiting this Markham location and would rather highly recommend the Midland/finch location.
