Maligne Lodge

It was our first time there. We booked a 3-day stay for Mother's Day as a treat for my wife. Overall, it was an exceptional experience! Upon arrival, the front desk lady was welcoming and attentive. My wife was not used to the chlorine smell from the swimming pool outside our suite, so she asked if there was another suite we could switch to. The front desk lady happily arranged it.

The room was super clean and spacious for the two of us. We slept like babies after our daily exhaustion from trails and explorations. I like to drink strong coffee, so I asked for 4 additional bags. The lady at the front desk was a bit surprised but assured me they were on the way. Literally, in less than a minute, a gentleman arrived with 4 bags of coffee. The way he delivered them was impressive—he stood slightly to the side to ensure no view inside, passed the bags politely, and retreated very quickly, with a detailed touch to avoid intruding in any way.

Another gem of this hotel worth mentioning is its facility - including swimming pool, whirlpool, Sunna, and the roof rooftop terrace - just add a lot more great experience for our three day trip, oh, I almost forgot the small library where you can pick book to read - which is another great treat too :)

Overall, it was a great place with detailed touch that matches the beauty of Jasper perfectly, and we will definitely come again in the near future. Highly recommended!

The rooms were so clean, and the general manager gifted us a bottle of wine and a nice little card because he heard it was my birthday! I always stay here when I’m staying in Jasper. It’s right on the edge of town so it’s nice and quiet, and there’s a nice little coffee place to get coffee in the morning. The water in the showers are nice and hot, and the beds are always so soft and clean.

This hotel was well priced for the quality. Everything was very clean and staff was very friendly. Beds were super comfortable. I like the fact that it was a bit further from all the hustle and bustle of the noise of downtown. A nice little 10-minute walk was nice.

The only issue that could be improved, is the time the pool/ hot tub was opened until; 9 pm was very early and most places are at least 10pm. The idea time should be 11pm as we would have liked to wind down later in the evening after all of our activities. In addition, the swimming pool could be much warmer. we didn't even go in because it was too cold. The hot tub could have been warmer too. Also was a little too close for comfort with strangers. A commercial hot tub would have been better. Kind of felt gross sitting so close to strangers. We normally hang out in the pool when that happens, but being so cold in there it wasn't possible.

Otherwise all was great. Smooth check-in/ check-out. Thank you.

Parking is available outside each room. Parking is first come, first serve. Might be a little tight for some big vehicles, but it was more than sufficient for my jeep. There is a gym and pool available to the guests and a coffee shop that opens at 7:30 am right beside the front desk. The rooms are small but cozy and clean, I was happy with it. I used a 3rd party app to book a night here, and it was still very easy to check in (I know there are sometimes complications with 3rd party bookings and hotels). Office staff was very friendly, quick, accommodating, and efficient at getting us checked in. The location is very convenient, just on the edge of town and about a 15-20 minute leisurely walk from Jasper downtown. I would like to return here for my next visit to Jasper :)

It's a budget hotel that could use a refurbishment, but everything was looked and smelled clean. Pets were popular here and we requested a non-pet room and we were happy with it. The bed was comfortable but the doors, floors, and walls were pretty thin. The street is generally quiet though. Office Filipino staff were friendly and accommodating, and the young handyman was very nice too. We had an issue with the shower and help came quickly. The location is nice being on the edge of town and just a 15 min walk to the centre. Parking was a little tight so we were happy we had a little car. The toiletries were swanky for a budget hotel. Board games available to borrow from the office and they have a microwave there too. Actually microwaves available on request and we were pleased to find a mini fridge in our room. This place was a little nicer than the Jasper Inn & Suites we stayed at previously, but we might try another place next time, although the price was hard to beat here.

My partner and I just stayed here at the end of February 2024. On arrival we weren’t sure what to expected as the exterior is a little dated. But we had a really lovely stay, for a small fee we upgraded to a junior suite and the room was lovely, we had great service and the walk to town is short and easy!!

On our second night, we went in the hot pub and briefly in the pool. That night we both experienced rashes and very itchy skin, which is only just subsiding, 3 days later! We don’t have sensitive skin and I’ve stayed in hot tubs and pools much longer than we did that night, and never had this issue! The itchiness was unbearable sometimes!
Whatever was in the water was that strong it has also bleached our swimwear, which is very eye opening!
We informed the front desk but I received a slightly sympathetic apology, it didn’t seem like they had any real concern for this.
I just wanted to share for anyone else staying who may use the facilities, maybe to be mindful of this!
Great stay otherwise!!
