Mis sold us insurance told us it was a new for old policy on our static caravan and it turns out it's not it's only insured for a third of what a new caravan would cost and then they would take 50% off as apparently its under insured what a rip.off

Towergate declined to renew our existing policy and (after chasing multiple times to obtain a new quote) we were asked to pay an outrageously high price for a new policy which turned out to be a multiple of what competitors offered. Terrible customer service, communication and underwriting system. Appears to be in line with what other reviews said. Stay away from this terrible company

I only give one star, when I am in the firm belief I have been treated in an unlawful manner. This company is awful, I mean truly awful. I called to arrange a policy, originally buildings but also contents when I realised this would be needed for carpets and flooring etc (during that call). Theft was mentioned numerous times. Why would all this be relevant if contents were not insured? In case the building was stolen?! I was even asked the value of the flooring being fitted, why would this be asked if it wasn’t covered?! The premium was paid, documents issued did not cover contents. When I realised what extra it was to cover contents, it was cheaper to write off the £86.24 I'd be charged for cancelling. Yes £86.24 i.e. almost half of what you can get a policy for elsewhere. Kind of explains why you hear so much negative said about the industry. Worst of all, I knew their records would prove my case. Towergate; if you dispute the above; send them to Google.

You're an insurance company. I can't really rate you as I've never needed to make a claim, that's where insurance companies are rated. With regards to the dealings I have had to date I would say I'm really pssed off. I'm fed up with receiving stupid emails regarding special offers of rewards and 'how are we doing?' because for some reason you don't know the basics of the service you provide. Insurance companies make a profit from premiums and the hope that there is no claim. There is and should be no other contact. Some of us have more important things to do than help other companies improve their service at the cost of consumer time and inconvenience.
....and may I add. Despite telling you not to contact me you still do as the previous 'survey' email has shown. Why is it so difficult? And where in your survey does it ask 'how did we do with bothering you with sht that you told us not to bother you with?'

DO NOT USE THEM.
SHOCKING DISGRACEFUL SERVICE
They left us without home building insurance cover as it took them too long to get an answer from their own underwriters !!
They promised to call us back as it was a friday and our insurance was expiring on the sunday. Nobody took our calls, nobody replied to emails. So basically i was uninsured and could have been burned down by any fires or then affected by subsequent floods. TOTAL DISGRACE

After years with towergate I finally had enough and left, loyalty means nothing here.. Steven was brilliant till they merged or what ever they did.. it went down hill rapidly, I had Naomi she was useless unresponsive no warning then I got Nicole Gormley! She was useless, weeks to respond as if she had no clue.. had my Insurance compared and my insurance papers was not worth the paper it was written on! I had full insurance but denied a payout! And to top it off 12 hours before my renewal I was sent a bill of £7500 which increased by £2500 + absolute joke!! I have better insurance now with a much trusted company!

Having used Towergate to insure my BTL property for several years, I was astonished to discover that following the sale of my property and request to cancel, that I would be charged a large 'cancellation fee'.
I feel disgruntled as the amount is not explicitly confirmed anywhere in my documentation. The ToCs basically state that Towergate can charge whatever they want if a customer wants to cancel, which I feel is wrong and immoral. If the ToCs stated that a £20 administration fee is applicable i would understand, but they don't. I am not impressed at being charged a 'cancellation fee' that equates to almost two months insurance cover. I cannot see any rationale for this and it is clearly very bad practise.
I shall not be using yourselves again.
