Carved at Descanso Gardens

2023 - Disappointing. Expected more for $45 per ticket. Some nice parts but chaotic route through the gardens, unclear route and overall quite underwhelming. We walked though it twice in 50 mins. Way too many people.

I was really disappointed this year. It was more expensive and it was shorter and less carved pumpkins than year 2021 and 2022. The whole point of going to see “ carved” was to see the amazing artistry of the carved pumpkins. This year the only had a few, they had a bunch of plastic lit up pumpkins and also they shortened the whole experience by taking the lake away. There was more food options than usual but It really wasn’t fun. It seemed to me that they were just trying to cut corners to make more money. I don’t mind paying if I am going to see a great display but this year was really disappointing. Please bring back more carved pumpkins and leave the original route the way it was in past years.

I am a huge fan of Descanso Gardens in general, but I was really disappointed with this year‘s version. Last year was much better and at least twice as long. They also put a lot more time into the exhibits last year. Nights of the Jack in Calabasas did a better job with the variety of displays this year, which was really surprising to us because we really enjoyed Carved last year. They also really fill the time slots because it was extremely crowded in there and kids were running around absolutely everywhere. It’s definitely not considered scary or anything in that realm, more so a bunch of different light shows. Parking is really easy and fairly close, so that’s a big bonus. I wish they would offer a larger variety of food, snacks, and drinks. We looked everywhere and could not find coffee for instance.

Overall 2022 was much better than this year. I will give it a chance next year, however, we did not enjoy this year nearly as much as we did last year.

Really disappointing this year (2023). Felt shorter than last year, we walked through in about 20 minutes. Worth maybe $15-$20. Seems like they’ve realized they can keep cutting costs while raising prices.

Beautiful place / event, just grossly overpriced for what it is. Glad I checked out Carved but unlikely that I would go again at $35 a ticket, and the food and merchandise so obscenely overpriced 😒

We were there on Sunday. No actual carved pumpkins this year just plastic displays. Prices increased but quality of displays decreased. Sad.

Real pumpkin carvings were neat and detailed but there were not many. Maybe we missed an area. Crowded at front area to get a drink so we just walked through and left fairly quickly. Definitely not hundreds of carved pumpkins unless they are referencing the fake ones. Better places to go with a toddler but still a cool atmosphere to walk through.
