Absolutely an amazing place, able to “look” back in time and see what a Roman town could have looked like (with some imagination to boot)

This place is for someone that apreciates hystory and art. Also is like an open air museum. The ruins look very good and you need a lot of time to see ecverything. There ars little lables next to the ruins so you can read what they are, they are presented in multiple lenguages. Some of the ruins have stairs and you can go to the 2nd floor to admire it and the view that comes with it. There are a lot of school groups there but the park is very big so there is enought space for everyone. You need the whole day and i dont think you will visite it all. I suggest to wear closed shoes, a hat and short sleeves tshirt beacouse is hot but alse there are a lot of bugs.

An under-noticed ruin. Well worth the visit! This is included in the ticket combo which also includes the famous Ostia Antica.

Ingresso gratuito.
Un sito archeologico di enorme valore!!
Grazie ai volontari!!!

This is the first part you reach when starting to explore the site of Ostia Antica. The tombs are a maze of small buildings with multiple niches in each. Some have decorated walls and some are plain but it gives an idea of the size and wealth of the city. There are also several sarcophogi that have been excavated and are now on display. The information boards are excellent and explain not only the architecture of the tombs but the social aspect and how they fitted into daily life. We probably spent 30 minutes in this area before moving in to the city itself.
