○ Located on Abdullah Haroon Road which was previously known as Victoria Road.
○ it was built in 1910, the building was designed by well known Jewish architect Moses Somake.
○ Other buildings said to be be designed by Moses Somake include Quaid e Azam house, previous Sindh Assembly building, BVS School and Gaon- Portuguese Hall and Mules mansion.
○ Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, his sister Fatima Jinnah and former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto used to visit the Café Grand, run by a famous baker Herbert Cumper, located on the ground floor of Edward House. Besides running Cafe Grand , Mr Cumper offered quality catering services for wedding ceremonies and other social gatherings.
○ Karachi’s most celebrated writers and artists also used to visit Café Grand.
○ The name of Café Grand has been changed to Stars Club in recognition of the film stars of Pakistan. Visiting Edward House is a source of pleasure and an opportunity to see the same place frequented by the great leaders, artists, and writers of Pakistan. You feel their presence around you as Stars Club has portraits of some of the most famous stars of Pakistan.
○ The building houses different offices, a carpets showroom, a furniture shop, and residential apartments. Visitors go there to explore this historical place and admire its lovely architecture.
○ It was the first of the city’s British-era buildings, to have been restored to its original look by Sindh Government in January 2012. The restoration of the structure was not easy as the façade could not be altered. Some of the same stones were used to give it an original shape, Fixing the ceilings was even harder..
