Amazing tour with Justin. He made the tour really interesting and fun for us. This is a hidden gem and we highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in American history

great tour, but keep in mind you have to call ahead, make a reservation and have a Real ID. in NY it’s a star and a circle. To those people that didn’t get in, just follow the rules.

HI
This was a great tour!, led by Justin.
I got a lesson in NY/Brooklyn history. Born/broughtup Boston my history teacher didnt teach much about Fort Hamilton or Fort Lafayette. I'd recommend to anyone. See pix attached.

Nice free museum run by volunteers with lots of knowledge about the history of Fort Hamilton and the United States. The volunteers are friendly and will answer whatever questions you have as they guide you through the museum. You must be aware that it is on an active military installation and you must have ID to get on the base. Foreign Nationals interested in visiting should call ahead to ascertain what they need in terms of ID to get on base.

I am EU citizen, andvI couldn't visit museum only with ID. You need to have passport there with you, so old school. I wasted my time going there.

It takes 2 hours to get here, and the guard ask my friend for their passports with a valid US Visa as a requirement to enter to the museum.
Too bad, waist our time... it was an discriminatory act.

My father came to visit to NYC and went to visit the museum. When asked for an ID he was told that a Governmental ID from Spain was not sufficient that he needed a passport with a visa stamp. He doesn't walk around the city with his passport nor this has ever been a requirement for any tourist to visit a museum, plus he had an official photo ID with him. He wasted an 1 hour+ ride in a bus and came back totally disappointed. The guards at the museum where not friendly either. They have to work on their personal treatment to visitors in this place.
