Very peaceful, worth a visit to see the difference in Cemetery

Ein Friedhof mit vielen Gräbern. Hier kommt sicher nur vorbei, wer jemanden kennt, der hier liegt.

Op deze begraafplaats lag van 1920 tot 1925 Manfred von Richthofen oftewel de rode baron begraven. Hij heeft gelegen in graaf nummer 1177. Op dezelfde plaats ligt nu Sebastian Paustian begraven.

Not to far from Lochnagar crater via Contalmaison. Easy to find. Solemn place as are all cemeteries. Hard to believe 17000 buried here most in 4 mass graves at rear. Easy drive back to Albert.

Fricourt German Military Cemetery is a sad but tranquil place and is nice to see if you are visiting the Somme battlefields. The contrast between the immaculate British cemeteries and the slightly unloved German one is very sad but to the victor goes the spoils. After 4 years of fighting, 17000 dead Germans share an area roughly the size of a football pitch, with few flowers and not many visitors. Of note, the Red Baron von Richthofen was buried here before his remains were removed by his family to Germany. Well worth a visit if you're nearby.

Plus de 17'000 tombes dans ce petit cimetière. Beaucoup de soldats dans des fosses communes. Ce n'est pas très confortable pour ceux qui y sont enterrés et on perçoit la rancœur de ceux qui ont été agressés.

En revanche, on voit , qu'à l'époque, les soldats allemands de confession juive bénéficiaient de la même considération que les autres soldats allemands. Cela n'a malheureusement pas duré et cela a provoqué un nouvel et effroyable bain de sang... :-(
