Today was the Lunar New Year’s celebration all along Mott Street, cordoned off for the parade! We were going to have dim sum next door but it was full packed with everyone all the way past the doors … so we went here to the Vegetarian Dim Sum which was sparsely crowded and quieter. The interiors are very modest but have ample seating for larger parties and family gatherings. The dim sum menu selection is very unique, so if it’s a first time ordering, it takes awhile to figure out what each of the items are in description. Completely vegan of course. And the service is super prompt and very good. The style of this dim sum is greatly different, from places generally patronized serving dim sum. And curiously, rather uncertain of which region the restaurant’s cuisine is originally based on, from the items seen on its menu. The portions are really hugely generous. With the dough around the dim sum very thick and unctuous. The fillings depending on what kind of greens selected, are seemingly very freshly and made daily. Their deep fried egg rolls are not to miss! An absolutely sensational dish alongside dipping them into duck sauce! So delicious ! And the steamed sweet red bean pieces really sensational also. Made of a sweet rice dough with a sweetened filling. Overall, even as takeout, the leftovers are certainly fantastic, so much more delicious afterwards when eaten cold or at room temperature later for a midnight snack. The prices are moderate. Though one could be said the same for regular non-vegan meat dim sum large or small. Highly recommended but be reminded it’s (CASH Only) … No worries! There’s a Chase Branch blocks nearby within walking distance not too far from here and a BOA ATM, too. Otherwise, such an enjoyable food experience for brunches and all other occasions included too! Super family-friendly!

This place is a vegan party waiting to happen with tons of dim sum options and a huge menu of entrées to choose from. I regularly ate here about 15 years ago but hadn’t been back for a while as most of my work and shifted uptown. It’s best to go in a group and just order lots of different items to share. The dim sum menu is a lot of fun and really tasty but not for you if you have a gluten allergy. Entrées are flavorful and with such a huge variety of items from which to choose you’re certain to find something for everyone. I recommend the large soups which are full of vegetables and dumplings. The red bean paste buns and mock steamed pork buns are super fun and unusual to find vegan versions of. My only real disappointment were the “fresh juices.” They were definitely not fresh. They tasted like they had put frozen fruit in a blender and added even more water. Other than that the service was quick and efficient. Definitely recommended for a group outing.

Food is always amazing! They only have one server so it can take a bit when they’re busy but this never bothers me as the food never misses! Complimentary tea is good. Super cheap and right in the heart of china town. The mock pork steamed buns are a must try!

They have gluten free options and good prices. We’ve repeated several times on our trip to ny.

For vegetarians who miss the dim sum experience. As with regular dim sum, it's better to go with more people so that you can get more dishes to share. Specific dishes I recommend; turnip cake (fried), rolled rice noodles with shrimp, mini rice in leaves, peking style pork chops, beef with broccoli.

If just having dim sum, get 2-3 plates per person to be stuffed. Also, don't be like the table next to us that ordered their own dishes for themselves. The best way to experience this food is to share it family-style.

I only put 3 stars for atmosphere because it's not a fancy place but don't let that put you off.

Their dimsum are not hot, few of the dishes were came in at room temperature or even a bit cold where it should be fried and serve in hot. But they still tasted good and surprisingly still crispy. So I only took one star from its rating.

Beside above their dimsum dishes are good, I specially like their fried wonton.

I wad disappointed. I went there by myself so couldn’t try too many dishes. The vegetables soup was rather bland but good. (Huge pieces of broccoli and other veg in a nice broth) The mock shrimp dumpling was soggy but the filling was ok. Really tasted like surimi. Rice flour roll with deep fried though tasted rancid. I told the owner/ waitress that the frying oil is old. She said no and that everything is fresh. Let me tell you. This frying oil was definitely not fresh but rancid. Atmosphere is not nice. Run down, dark, shabby. Food is served in plastic dishes. If the food would be great but the atmosphere bad I wouldn’t mind. But like this I really don’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s just not worth it.
