My family and I visited this trail and liked it. The water is almost gone from some of the streams, but it was very relaxing.

My wife and I were staying in Bayfield for a few days and were looking for a close by nature hike. We searched and found the Varna Trails just east of town.
There is a shorter recreational trail but we hiked the 2.5 km Mavis trail that meanders down to the Bayfield River.
The trail is well marked and is a mix of pine forest and deciduous bush. There are lots of helpful stairs, bridges and footholds that have been there for some time but are still robust.
There are some benches along the trail as well, most at vistas over the river. These are nice for a pause and to listen to the many birds in the forest.
I would rate this trail on the easier side of moderate, mainly due to the shorter length.
You could easily complete it in an hour, but hey, stop along the way and really enjoy yourself!
Thank you to the volunteers who do the trail maintenance.

Nice easy trails. 3.5km total. Great for running or walking

Just stopped in so the kids could use the playground. Lots of parking and sitting areas. Big covered Pavilion, and baseball diamonds. There are a couple trails as well, one leading to the Bayfield river. The playground has swings, climbers, slides, and a little climbing wall. The ground surface at the playground is smooth pebbles, but it does have a side sand box with a couple excavators, one was broken. Great place for the kids to burn off some steam. An added bonus is a couple flush toilets. Update fall 2022, bathrooms are open, the fall colours are beautiful, made the hike even more enjoyable.
