I’ve been fishing here as a kid with my younger brother and our longtime friend of 33 years now.. I’m reading that the lake will not be restored and it’s for a basin which means no fish or fishing.. what a shame.

It was a real shame to lose this gem to a retention basin being put in its place. I loved this park and what it had to offer. Now that the lake is gone- the basin is being put in. I really wish that the city would not have gotten rid of the lake- it was a nice peaceful place to be.

Very nice , clean playground . Drinking fountains work . The duck pond is closed off . Picnic tables under pavilion and a place to grill is nice as well.

Ridgewood Lake Park is a favorite place for me..
I have so many memories here.

7/14/24 update, I am removing a star since they turned the lake into a retention basin and it does not look as nice anymore. There is a splash pad for kids, 2 big pavilions with picnic tables and a fishing lake. The area is well maintained and very clean. This is right across from the Shoppes at Parma fka Parmatown.

Great place to spend a sunny afternoon with the kids. A super creative splash pad, a nice playground with a rock wall, swings and other fun activities, a gorgeous view of the pond with families of ducks and geese, benches and pavillions for parties, even a little concession truck with ice cream and other snacks, vending machines, public restrooms, and the Parma sign is always a hit to take photos by. Everything is wheelchair accessible :)

UPDATE: AND NOW THEY'RE TAKING OUT THE LAKE, SO THAT IS ANOTHER THING TAKEN AWAY FROM WHAT WAS A WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD. THEY'RE REPLACING IT WITH SOME KIND OF WINDING STREAM. WHEN THEY'RE DONE, I'M BETTING IT WILL BE AN EPIC FAILURE THAT WILL HAVE TO BE FIXED BY THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION.
I grew up a house away from this park. It was a wonderful place to grow up back then. I spent every day all day in the pool, & went through all the swimming lessons, I was on both synchronize and competitive swim teams. I even taught swimming lessons for a while. There were fishing derbies at the lake, and in the winter we would skate on the lake. The fire department would spray it down to make it smooth, & there would be speed skating tournaments & pick up hockey games. It was a great area to grow up. Kids didn't get in trouble because they were too busy having fun!
Years later, my son bought my parents home so his 3 sons could have the same experiences. Unfortunately, they took out the pool & no more skating on the lake. So my son is about to sell that beautiful home. A contractor originally built it for his family, so it has a lot in it that you normally would see in more expensive homes. So sad. It's been in the family since 1955.
If I get a chance, I'll post some pictures in the future.
