Such a great place to remember the cost of our freedom and the price we have to pay to maintain and progress our nation. Beautiful galleries with light and sound show describing the Jalianwala Bagh massacre and events leading up to it. It's a must visit for everyone coming to Amritsar.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre was a horrific incident that occurred on 13th April 1919 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. The event is also known as the Amritsar Massacre. On that day, a peaceful gathering of thousands of Indian protesters was held at the Jallianwala Bagh, a public park. They were protesting against the oppressive British Raj government.

The British military forces under the command of Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer arrived at the park and indiscriminately opened fire without any warning on the unarmed crowd. The brutal attack continued even after the panicked crowd tried to flee. Over 1,000 people were killed, and around 1,500 were injured.

The incident sparked outrage among Indians and further intensified the freedom struggle movement. It became a turning point in India’s fight for independence from the British.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is a tragic and unforgettable incident in India's history. People still remember it every year and pay tribute to the innocent lives lost on that day.
