Wheaton Promenade

I feel like I have to explain. I do think this makes a decent enough place to sit.. and it is great to have a public space to use in this manner. But there are some big misses I think. First, it is right along front and main which are two busy streets. The train carts with chains are attractive enough but aren't great barriers if you have small kids with you. I don't think this is their function but I think it would have been easy enough to consider. Second, the water feature while is attractive would be more so if it were also a feature that kids could play with in some manner.. this would have been a better tradeoff for the removal of the old fountain. I don't understand why there cannot be spaces in DT Wheaton which are available each day for the public and suitable for kids to play in / on. For a city with a lot of families it could be a bigger focus. Last, the fire feature is nice to look at but provides really no heat. This is in contrast to the fireplace in town square which is a GREAT source of heat.

All of this is why MY rating is "ok" .. great concept.. but room for improvement to be sure.

Where are the Cobblestones?

Some of The "Updates" in Wheaton, Illinois are questionable at best.

The new city center is awesome. A great place to enjoy your coffee or food with friends. It's a very open and comfortable place to hang out during the day and also at night under the lights. Check out during winter as well, as the fireplace is a nice touch to add some warmth.
