The Maine Military Historical Society Museum

Peter has so much knowledge about history and those who have served from the state of Maine! Wonderful place to visit and honor those who served our country.

I was overwhelmed on my recent visit. The museum has grown since my father, one of the founding fathers of the museum, started it years ago. On hearing last year that it no longer existed, I was very happy to find that not true. Not only does it exist, but the volunteers dedicated to nurturing its growth have done an amazing job bringing it to it's current caliber, with plans for its continued growth. The outstanding knowledge, passion, and skill of the volunteers, as well as the respect for those having served/ serving in Maine's armed forces is very evident. I highly recommend a visit and extend my gratitude to all who are dedicated to give of their time to provide such a comprehensive history of Maine's military. Special thanks to Peter Ogden for his museum tour, his time, and his work in obtaining the museum's designation as Maine's only official historical military museum and all that designation has provided.

I highly recommend this museum which is well worth a visit if you are in Augusta.
