I enjoyed the $22 guided tour of this unique and beautiful home; there was a plethora of information shared by the apt and personable docent. For an antebellum home this home is in incredible condition; it it evident the intentionality of the curators is very present.

My only gripe is that they allow self-guided tourers at the same time as the docent-guided, which allows for awkward interruptions and people going to and fro in the room you’re trying to learn about; not ideal. I mean, you could probably get away with paying the lesser $18 self-guided price and linger behind the guided tourers and learn the same information lol.

At any rate, this is a very nice home with excellent history and unique and attractive furnishings; definitely worth the time!

Enjoyed the self guided tour which still includes a brief introduction by an extremely knowledgeable docent. Loved the gift shop as well.

Superb tour of this mansion very knowledgeable staff lots of good and bad history attached to this place some regarding its history of the owning, selling and buying of slaves the place redeems itself with history further down the line and there are lovely gardens to sit in on a warm day.

If you like history and you find yourself in Nashville, take an hour (I took two) and listen to the history of the house and the family of the manor as revealed by the docents who work there. They are quite knowledgeable and are happy to answer questions and be of help. I gave a small tip to my guide and I know the college student appreciated it.

I went on a weekday about noon and there was no line and it wasn't crowded inside. There is no time limit to your visit during business hours. Please ring the doorbell for entry. The gift shop has some nice items at very reasonable prices - though I'd love to see even more replica-type items of period pieces, either jewelry or scarves, hats, or even toys of the time.
