A beautiful neo-gothic style church built in 1850 during the British era that became a cathedral in 1887 when Poona became a diocese in 1886. This church has been repaired, renovated as and when in need during its history. In 1984 it’s roof got collapsed. Later it was rebuilt in curved structure designed by the great architect, Charles Correa.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral still remains the main church for Poona diocese which includes districts - Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur.

It's one of the oldest church in Pune built in the Gothic style of architecture, for Irish soldiers in 1800s.
The atmosphere of the church is tacit.

Attended the Christmas Mass here on 25th. It was a great experience. The church is beautifully decorated and around 1500-2000 people visited the Christmas celebration. This church is the most reverrend in Pune.

In 1849, Rev. Fr. James Carry, an Irish priest who was appointed as a chaplain in Poona drew up plans to erect a new chapel. Today, that structure is the magnificent St. Patrick’s Cathedral – an iconic landmark in the city. The 160 year old Cathedral has been the pillar of the Catholic community in Pune and continues to draw people to worship and renew their faith.

The 160 year old St. Patrick’s Cathedral (after the major restoration and beautification) was blessed on October 23 2010 by the Rt. Rev. Thomas Dabre, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Pune.

I visited this Cathedral today and the moment I stepped into this space, I COULDN'T BELIEVE my eyes.
I have seen this cathedral so many times in Google images and other sources but after checking it out live, the spiritual and visual impact I felt was SO OVERWHELMING!!
The serenity, the environment, the overall emphasis of the Cathedral, EVERYTHING is REALLY Beautiful.

Also if you don't know, this Cathedral was designed by a World Famous Architect, Sir Charles Correa.
So believe me, you MUST visit this amazing place atleast once if you are based in Pune.
Especially, Christians like me should REALLY GO & VISIT IT!!!

There is a small chapel also inside, very peaceful and great for praying. Parking is also very, very spacious. The maintenance around is done by the caretakers who are also very helpful.

Have a great day! :)
