It is a workout climbing up. But worth it, the views are amazing.

Absolutely worth it. We were authorized to go to the top. Amazing views at 360 degrees. Didn’t mind the steep stairs or the chains or even the narrow passages in the stone.
Be mindful if you’re tall (I’m 5’10) not to hit your head though.
Parking ticket grants one free entry.

This castle is the second biggest one, next to Uchisar Castle. Our guide said that a few years ago it was closed off to visitors and had to be re-enforced.
There’s a nice overlooking spot where we admired it from afar while we enjoyed Turkish coffee.

Such history to be seen. It's amazing how these castles still exist. More amazing is how people actually lived their lives in these castles. There is a lot of walking to be done. Mostly on cobblestone walkways. Also, there are a lot of steps with no railings. So be careful. A must see when visiting this area!

Small town with this little castle. Is worth to visit. When you climb up you can see the beautiful view.

There is a very very nice place. The castle has very beautiful view.

Disappointing Experience at Ortahisar Castle- Travellers beware!
I recently had the chance to visit Ortahisar Castle, one of the unique landmarks in the Cappadocia region. I arrived with a sense of anticipation, expecting to explore and appreciate this impressive structure carved from natural rock formations.
However, my experience was significantly dampened by the state of the castle. Despite charging an entry fee, it quickly became evident that the upkeep and maintenance of the structure have been woefully neglected. The stairs were noticeably in a state of disrepair, which not only detracted from the overall experience but also raised safety concerns for visitors.
What's more, after purchasing the ticket for 20 lira, I found that a significant portion of the castle, approximately 2/3 of the entire structure, was cordoned off due to safety issues. Unfortunately, this was not communicated at the ticket booth, leaving me feeling misled and disappointed. The opportunity to fully experience and explore the castle is a key reason for visiting, so to find this large part of the castle inaccessible without prior warning was quite frustrating.
The condition of Ortahisar Castle is particularly disheartening considering the importance of this historic monument and the potential it has to offer an insightful and memorable experience for tourists. I have no qualms about paying an entry fee, especially if it contributes to the preservation and maintenance of such a valuable cultural site. But it's disheartening to see such little evidence of these funds being put to use in preserving the castle.
I hope to see improvements in the future, not only in terms of restoration and maintenance but also in communication with visitors. Until then, potential visitors should be aware of these issues before deciding to visit Ortahisar Castle.
