Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Walking/biking distance from Ballater. Nice area for picnick. Very quiet and idyllic landscapes around.

Well worth a visit! Recommend walking up the driveway rather then driving. Be cautious if it is a wet day as the rocks can be slippery and the road is on a steady incline. You have to climb over the fence to get to the ruins. The castle is in great condition given its age and location - beautiful views and information available.

Interesting place to visit with a remarkable but sad story. Beautiful setting. Well worth a visit.

This is quite a nice stop off, but there is noooooo parking. I decided to go up the dodge road, I have a SUV. It was very bumpy but my car was fine. Then I noticed there was noo parking. There was a field with all brambles so I revesed in to it and parked. Then pop to see castle. We noticed there was a farm yard but looked a bit abandoned so not sure if there's parking there.
The castle it self was lovely and good to see!

This historic ruined castle is well hidden. I was on a walk with my friends by the Seven Bridges from Ballater. We took a detour to come and visit the Castle. There is limited parking you are certainly best to walk it here. It is a fairly steady climb up a farm track and then you come to a style. It is an impressive tower house and you can stand and wonder about what it would have looked like in its day. According to the notice board I am not sure you would have received a warm welcome. Today it stands testimony to troubled times and good for us to learn about these things. Well worth the effort to come and visit.

This was a beautiful castle, surrounded by fields and with the highlands on the background. However getting there isn’t easy! The road leading to it is full of potholes making it dangerous to drive. So we decided to walk up, and ended up parking in a wee corner of the road (not ideal). The castle itself is beautiful, but there’s not much more to it! Nice to visit once, but I wouldn’t go back I think! No tickets required, this is a free visit.

A nice little castle. The drive up was quite tricky but once you got there the experience is really good. The 'Castle' is small but still impressive. The surrounding area is spectacular.
