Albert Heijn To Go

Bought an umbrella here which saved my bacon on a rainy Amsterdam day.

Bad selection of convenciene food, no wine at all and almost fully out of beer after kingsdag. The self check out cashier's také half of shop space.

Do not go here unless you have no other option, as the prices are meant to target tourists who don't know any better.

I.e. 2 slices of cheese here cost more than a pack of 16 slices in a normal AH.

The Albert Heijn in Amsterdam Central Station is a great supermarket that is very conveniently placed inside right next to the train station so you can get high-quality products ready for the train. I thought the food here was good and I especially loved the freshly squeezed orange juice you get here where you get a cup of your choice put it in the machine and press the green button and in front of you the machine will slice and juice the oranges until you press stop and the juice pours directly into your cup. It's always so fresh and sweet which is why I love going to this shop.

horribly aggressive security. They caught the thief which is fine but regardless of the customers the gentlemen were unconscious as they kept pushing the thief aggressively. Their behavior endangered the safety of customers. The gentlemen probably did not receive training on how to behave! As a result of the push, the thief grabbed me by the drawstring of the hood and almost pulled me to the floor with them. I understand that it is their job to guard, but everything has its limits. I will report this behavior to AH headquarters.

Literally had the worst customer service ever. Was standing in the queue at the only manned check out counter for a few minutes, I was the next customer to be served, then a new counter opened but the staff served the Dutch customer behind me instead. I was thinking fine since I’m being served next at this counter. To my surprise the girl told me that this counter is now closed because she had to go on a break! So why doesn’t she tell me beforehand? The other staff told me I had to join the queue at the start because she thought I just joined the queue! How can you not recognise me? Disappointing behaviour and rude customer service!

Great variety of grab and go food and drinks. They have a lot of salads and some meals, also croissants, little breads and other breakfast options and you can make yourself coffee. You can quickly go through the self-checkout. They have the square paper bags here only. Don't expect to find here the larger blue bags from non-'To Go' AH locations. Expect higher prices too because it's at the station.
