Chestnut Diner

I walked in happily. After the waiter's attitude, I was demoralized. She didn't even look at us and didn't help us with the questions we asked. We are coming to have breakfast. In the morning, as a matter of humanity, she could have said good morning. She could have said bon appetit while serving the meal. Humanity is not that difficult. The environment did not look clean and the forks were dirty. The food was average.

I've found this place here on Maps and followed the positive reviews: they were right! The place is quiet and cozy, food is on point and at the right price range. Coffee was good! Loved those hashbrows. Would recommend and eat again here.

Dinner was a short walk away from where we were staying. Service was great and friendly. Price was reasonable. Coffee was amazing as everywhere we have experienced in SF. We got omelettes, home fries. and pancakes which were cooked in too much butter/grease for our liking. Did not settle well afterwards.

My coffee was refilled quickly as well which I loved! Also the restaurant felt very clean inside which I Definitly appreciate

When I last visited SF with my best friend, Chestnut Diner was a short walk from our hotel. We went there for breakfast every morning, and we truly enjoyed it. The food was good, and the service was friendly. Keep in mind that this is a basic diner with a plain diner menu. It’s not some trendy brunch spot full of hipster wannabes. It’s just good food that’s reasonably priced in a traditional diner setting.

Lovely food, fast and friendly service. Good drip coffee. Frequented by police officers which is usually a sign of a good breakfast spot lol. Prices not too bad. Visited twice (April and June) and was not disappointed on the second visit. Would highly recommend if in the area.

I am baffled by all the great reviews. The food was okay, but definitely not quality ingredients, and fake maple syrup. No fresh fruit available. The service was really disappointing. The waitress barely looked at us and was in a huge hurry, even though there were only a couple other customers. She never brought us water, and when I asked for it, she brought one glass (we had 5 people). The cook in the back came out to let us in the restroom and he was incredibly rude when he did so. I would not go back.
