Queenswalk shopping center area in East Grinstead is in dire need really of a face-lift and urgent repairs to wall areas on sides of some stores where the plaster is cracking. We never got all of our new promised stores coming onto the new below flats area. This was a condition of the development being allowed I thought, that those shop spaces would be duly filled. Not left idle. Empty as some area still ongoing. After major stores were failed to be attracted here to open businesses.

The rest of the older stores struggle on. Poppins is there as a useful family run local restaurant. And charity shops remain many people's chief reason for going off the path from London Road main town drag area, and through to the car park by Iceland, plus access through onto the library and Waitrose. Lots of broken and loose paving slabs again in the Queenswalk main thoroughfare. You have to watch your feet on a couple of them as the stones move under your feet when you tread upon them. Not well maintained. I thought the company operating the new block of flats was supposed to be maintaining everything there now? Pity. That it has been left to go rather downhill again of lately.

Other useful shops there, but their exteriors with the obvious lack of maintenance issue doesn't encourage confidence to wish to walk there, and linger long enough to frequent the stores honestly. Bit of an eyesore now I feel. Self defeating not to update the area to left of the newer flats there. Must have lost millions of pounds of trade to stores and to the Town Council in lost revenues just since Covid pandemic time ended, letting the run down status quo go on. Embarrassing for the town as a whole. That we still don't have a decent main modern shopping area promised by the Town Council decades ago. A major failure by local government very evident here.

Personally wonder how long Peacocks and New Look clothes stores, Card Factory and Iceland store can survive on there in the rather old retail units. Not very enticing at all. Some great staff in these stores, let down by ancient and antiquated premises.

Beginning to pick up but more work required with the flower beds. Some welcome additions to the retail units however still spaces exits.
