Parque Lage, also known as Parque Enrique Lage, is a public park and cultural centre located in the Jardim Botânico neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Parque Lage is renowned for its lush greenery, walking trails, and beautiful gardens. It is set against the backdrop of the Corcovado mountain, home to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

At the heart of the park lies the Lage Mansion (Palacete do Lage), a historic building dating back to the 1920s. The mansion's architecture is striking, and it now houses the Escola de Artes Visuais (School of Visual Arts), offering art courses and exhibitions.

Visitors can explore the park and its gardens for free. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists to relax, picnic, or take leisurely walks.

The park offers several trails that lead to the nearby Corcovado mountain. One of the trails provides access to the Christ the Redeemer statue, making it a starting point for those who want to hike to the top.

Overall, Parque Lage is not only a beautiful natural oasis but also a thriving cultural centre that combines nature, art, and history, making it a must-visit destination in Rio de Janeiro.

Before coming!!!

- If you want to go inside the building (Palacio) you will need a reservation prior arriving. I suggest you do it online.

- you can enter the building without a tour/reversation by eating at the restaurant. There will be a line on the side of the door and they will call you inside once there is a table for you.

Inside of the restaurant there are restrooms.

You can also explore the park on your own. There are a couple of short hikes/ viewpoints indfe if the parque.

Beautiful park with a great variety of plants and trees, almost like a botanical green. Stunning views of the Jesus statue above, as well as cute monkeys in the trees. Um, there are caves as well.

Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro is a stunning place with breathtaking beauty. The lush greenery and architectural charm create a captivating atmosphere. The brunch served was delicious, adding to the experience. However, the wait time to enter the premises can be unreasonably long, which may dampen the overall enjoyment. Patience is required, but the enchanting surroundings make it worth the wait.

The park is like a sample of Atlantic nature in the middle of the city. From here you can access the hiking trail to the Christ the Redeemer (4,4 km). Inside the park area there is the famous building, place of Visual Arts School (EAV) - to enter you need to get the tickets a couple of days before. The garden is beautiful and worths the visit. The building, not so much: the internal space is mainly occupied by the cafe (overpriced, overrated, crowded with long lines of waiting).

An incredible mansion and park. Very scenic. One should spend a few hours here and get pictures taken at all the right spots such as the pool and outside the mansion on the stairs.
The amount of biological diversity is certainly lesser than botanical gardens but the building makes up for it to a great extent.
You need to book a ticket in advance which is for free. It will not be available for a few days as we found. Taxis are available quickly outside.

More than I expected. The main building is the attraction that brings most people to the park but there was a long line when we wanted to go in. Behind the main building is a pathway up that leads to a very nice waterfall amongst other things to see. The park itself is free and very nice to take a walk. I actually prefered this park over the botanical garden.
