You'll get an outstanding view of the old town (Aldstadt) from the viewpoint. It's definitely worth going/walking there if you have enough time to discover Salzburg city. However, I need to warn that the way going up there is a little bit steep; it could be helpful to keep that in mind.

Amazing view, worth it to see
Whenever you are in Salzburg and you have the time, I would recommend you coming up to this lookout to catch a view of the old town. Up there you will see the whole beauty of this lovely town, with the Cathedral and Fortress.
