It was very interesting to see what the train looked like on the inside. The person that was the tour guide was very knowledgeable.
I've always enjoyed seeing a piece of our history. It's definitely worth a trip!
I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time, and finally did today. The young man giving the tour was very knowledgeable. When he showed us inside the old Interurban car something began to click in my mind. I had a distant uncle who worked for the Interurban in Van Alstyne. The tour guide kept saying that this was a restored car, and it was the last car ever on the tracks. I pulled up a picture of my uncle on the family search app, and to my surprise he was standing in front of the exact same car that's at the museum! I showed the picture to the museum director, and he asked for a copy of it, so I emailed it to him.
A very small place about Plano rail station. One actual rail coach outside the building with some items. Most of the display is inside. The electric current exhibits were awesome. One can actually generate current from the exhibits. The gentleman at the counter was a good tour guide for us. Entry is free.
Worth stopping if you're nearby. Staff is great. A few hands-on activities for kids. We only had 20 minutes on the way to the airport, an hour would have been plenty.
Great family outing to the Lights On the Farm special event. Even got pics with Santa!
My daughter had the best time going on a field trip to the Heritage Farmstead Museum! She got to escape electronics and learn how people got along without such things. What a great experience!
Really cute historical farm! My kids had a great time at the story telling of 3 little pigs. Their favorite parts were the tractor lead wagon ride, and seeing the animals. Great place for a short morning trip with little ones, and love that it's conveniently located in the heart of Plano. Some of the volunteers working there were a little rough around the edges with the kids, especially for people who are interacting with young children. Otherwise it's a really lovely site! Definitely recommend.

We had such a great time visiting here. This building is historic to Plano and was built in 1908! The people working here were so fun and knowledgeable about the site and everything to do with trains. Even though the building is small, it felt like a full on museum experience with all the information and interactive stations they offered. We learned so much! Seeing the items that were used back in the early 1900's really made me feel in awe of how hard working people were back then and didn't even know it! We have come such a long way, technology wise, in the last hundred years it's almost unbelievable. Thank you for offering this to everyone!
Very good, small farm in the Plano. Kids will enjoy watching, feeding, and playing. Good for 1-2 hrs.

We had a great time learning all about the electric railway. We got guided tour of historic car 360. Felt like we stepped back in time. 🚃
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and had a smile the whole time.
There are many exhibits that are play and learn. Which is perfect for kids and adults 😉
Quick place to visit and spend time for about an hour. Informative and interesting for kids and adult as well. You will also see an old railway car and see the inside of it. There are cool electric projects on display too. Better to have few $ for donations. Place is kept clean and organized. Parking can be done in the DART parking lot or across the street.

Cute little historic downtown. The boutiques and eateries were stuffed with great retail items and wonderful menu options. Spend a few hours enjoying history with the owners of Main street shops and restaurants. Purchased a handbag, earrings, summer shawl and a wonderful recipe book for newlyweds at Lyla’s and enjoyed coffee and pastries from the local bakery.

We love hanging out in Downtown Plano! There are fantastic restaurants such as Ebesu (Sushi) and Jörg’s (Authentic Austrian Food and Beer), fun bars such as Vickery Park with art and games, Fillmore with a great patio, and McNeal’s with Irish food and beer, and cute shops. There are also a lot of community events that happen here. Parking is ample and there is a DART train station for easy transportation.
Wonderful experience and your!! We learned a lot about the owner’s farmstead and history through the guided house tour. Despite it being a bit cold and rainy during our visit, we still got to experience everything including seeing all of the buildings, feeding the chicken, seeing the animals, and a tractor ride!! While it may look like a small farmstead there is a lot of history and things to do for the family here. I love the unique items and trinkets at the gift shop too!!
Took my 2.5 year old and from the moment we got there, the historians there, were super knowledgeable, and above that, you could tell how much they took pride, care in and of the museum. They walked us through each “experiment” showing us how it worked and what it was showing us…lots of neat magnets, switches, buttons to press, all about the science of electrical stuff, movement, and of course how electric trains work-generally speaking.
I wish I had paid closer attention to the two men who were the docents today because they were wonderful to speak with and even really engaging with my little one too.
I mean…my boy got to “drive a train” today!!! He’s be telling everyone!!🫶🏼👍🏼
Fantastic little museum-high five Plano !

P. S. A nice playground can be found at the park where you will also find parking.

I had a blast at downtown Plano! They were having a Halloween festival, and my family love the time we had there. Definitely will be going back to try several restaurants down there.
V spent a great 3.5 hours here. Loved and learnt many things. The staff are very friendly. My toddler absolutely loved this place. We thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely come back.
This little gem is truly beautiful! I went and there were no docent available to take me in a tour inside the main house. Erma a very friendly volunteer from the ‘Young House’ volunteered to take me in a tour and she had a wealth of information & answered all my questions.

Very serene place 🌱
We celebrated my daughter's 7th Birthday in Cowgirl theme at the Heritage Farmstead Museum.
A big shout out to the Birthday celebration coordinator Mary Ann, she was really nice to show us around n took every detail into account.

My daughter n her friends really enjoyed on the farm, they played scavenger hunt n fed the chickens.

We decorated the Pole Barn in the theme and all the kids had a blast.
One of my favorites areas that I’ve found in the Dallas area since moving here two years ago. Good restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and other shops, with more than one public parking lot so plenty of space to park within a max of a block or two to walk if street parking for a particular place full. My favorites are: 32 Degrees (rooftop bar above urban crust pizza), 1418 Coffeehouse & Better than Sex (dessert shop). There’s also a plaza area and frequent events there. The whole area is cute and feels well kept and safe to walk around. My favorite time to go is during holiday season when everything is decorated and lit up😊

Beautiful place to walk around with fun events year round, with plenty of easily accessible parking. The square is also wheelchair accessible. We visited this weekend to see the Dickens Christmas event! Carolers, Christmas-themed ballet and hip hop performances, and theater performances. Everyone was friendly and the shop owners in the district are always happy to chat and give recommendations. Definitely stop by for a few hours if you’re in town!

This is an awesome place for dates or to hang out with friends. Easily accessible by train and lots of locally owned businesses to support. Or if you are looking for a free date, the park is beautiful. There are also events and community theater performances on occasion, so check the downtown plano website for the calendar.
