Good bit of history but had to find it online. Should be a bit more made of this site. It is signposted from the main road, encouraging visitors but nothing to see as you drive past the private land its on. Perhaps this could be addressed, or dont encourage passing visitors.

A pleasant walk out through the sand dunes dodging the rabbit holes to have a look at the site of the round houses. Not much to see and only a couple of info boards to let you know what you are looking at, interesting nonetheless. Just got to wonder what else the drifting sand has buried in this area.

Not a castle! Unable to access as fenced off / private land. You can see a ruin.

Round houses well worth seeing
Down load the Uist unearthed app first
If nothing else a nice stroll
Appear to be in a private farm yard, can only be seen from the roadside
Well worth a visit It was built in the early years of the 18th century by Allan Macdonald this is history at it's best what's not to like

The ancient remains of roundhouses are interesting enough. But walk beyond them them to the beach, and you might be lucky enough to spot an otter! Spot the otter in the video.

This is a fascinating place you visit, though somewhat difficult to find. As you teach the cemetery there is parking on the grass infront of it. As your facing the cemetery there is a sandy, undulating path to the left. Take this path and it will take you straight there.

It's fascinating to see and well maintained.

Walked all way long from North Uist to see this historical site and felt deceived after discovering this dump (literally). It would deserve much more care.

In need of some care and attention, and some local information boards. Interesting building though.

Need to do something with this place, some allocated parking, information board. It looks nobody takes proper care about that place. For the moment no reason to spend time on it.
A nice short hike to the Cairn with some beautiful views.

Caisteal Ormacleit built in 1701 was the residence of Allan MacDonald the clan chief of Clan Ranald who was mortally wounded at the battle of Shefiffmuir in 1715.

Beautiful historic site. Road is drive-able in summer. 2000+ year old village site where mummies were found. Access to one of the most incredible beaches have ever seen.
