Awesome diner feel with food that’s much better than a typical diner. The service was fantastic parking was relatively easy (for that part of town), the whole experience was great.

We always order for family dinner it’s been years now the food and delivery service never disappoints the meat is so moist and fresh, the potato’s are so delicious I always order the classic souvlaki platter for myself wow! highly recommend

In need of an early morning breakfast spot, I stumbled upon Elgin Street Diner on Google Maps. Opting for convenience over familiarity, I ventured in without prior knowledge of what to expect. True to its name, the diner ambiance was charming, and the cleanliness added to the appeal. Welcomed by two courteous staff members, I settled in for a meal.
Opting for the Blue Plate Special, a hearty combination of three eggs, bacon, sausages, ham, beans, a full-sized poutine, and coffee, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. However, the portion sizes were undeniably excessive. While the food was delicious, the sheer amount seemed unrealistic for most diners to conquer.
Although the quality was commendable, the steep price tag of over $30, including tip, for breakfast gave pause. Personally, I would prefer more modest portions at a lower cost. Overall, Elgin Street Diner offers a satisfying breakfast experience, albeit with room for adjustment in portion sizes and pricing.

I stumbled on this restaurant today, decided to have lunch there with my 13-yr old son... and loved everything about it! The wait staff were attentive, polite and good humored, the food was fresh and the servings were generous. If you like good food in a relaxing, friendly environment this is the place!
Tried their regular burger, but it was a bit dry and honestly just okay. I was hoping for more seasoning, especially for the price. The fries were plentiful but lacked seasoning, and in my opinion, they were the worst kind of fries you could get. On the bright side, the pickles were fantastic, but the coleslaw was just average. Even though I skipped the milkshake, it's their specialty and I would always recommend getting it. It's open 24/7, so it's a popular spot for late-night hangs with friends, but personally, I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
A souvlaki platter costed me $26 which I was fine with but then it asked me for $4.50 extra to make it beef I figured for 31$ I would have gotten at least 2 kebabs … this is what you get for 31$ plus tax very disappointing won’t be ordering again
All around awesome experience! Waiter was fantastic! Patient and kind with my 5 y.o daughter. The food delicious, just as I remember from my college days 10 years ago. We didn't try them but they had milkshakes big enough to feed an army and desserts that made you want to lick the display case window!
It is one of life’s greatest joys to eat breakfast food outside of breakfast. I went fully controversial by ordering a ginger ale with it because dinner is a mindset not a set of physical set of characteristics. The egg French toast was phenomenal and the bread was something that I will genuinely try to replicate at home. A lovely experience 10/10
I was so grateful for the amazing customer service at this location! There was a mixup in the delivery and our food was delivered to the wrong person (it was a bit confusing as I was having food delivered to the hospital for a family member). I called the restaurant and they were so understanding and promptly sent out another order for me! It really meant a lot to know the food made it to my family.
The website was very clear about everything, when it calculated that delivery to where I was wasn't covered by standard fee's for how much I ordered it said to plase add a shocking 3 dollars more. I happily added the drinks I wanted but was skimping on to save money. The food arrived faster than the website said it would be, and tastes good so far. I plan on ordering again.

We did a group catering order for a team event and everything was superb! The food was delicious and everyone loved it. The quantity for the price is great! Highly recommend!!
This place is the jackpot if you like good Greek food. We loved the lentil soup and the starter Spanakopita with spinach and feta filling.

Ordered delivery. Pretty happy with everything except for the soggy calamari (the oil may have not been hot enough, or just a result of delivery) I would definitely order from here again though.

Ordered the food using Uber eats. Chicken was undercooked. Description of meal didn’t mention pork however Salad came with pork. Don’t recommend.

Found this little gem in Ottawa. We chose to dine in. It was quieter noting that we came late in the evening but everything was perfect! We started off with Lentil soup which was phenomenal. Then we got the chicken and lamb platter. They had the freshest ingredients, Greek salad was amazing and the meat was the best I have had. Will be recommending this spot to everyone I know!
Such a gorgeous little restaurant tucked away on Bank street. Portions and pricing are reasonable. The owner is a very kind and warm person, who you can tell works hard as he was working front of house, serving, and cooking in the kitchen as well. Would recommend to those looking for a comfort meal. Nothing flashy, just good food and good atmosphere :)

Enjoyed the best fatoush salad I've had in a long time. The medium was huge, and all the components were fresh and crispy. Topped with heaps of warm chicken, it's an unbeatable dinner.

One of the best services I ever had. They truly went above and beyond to give me what I needed and they have the most friendliest staff. I 100% recommend it just a wonderfull experience and best authentic Greek Food

Ordered uber eats, paid $60 for a small salad, lettuce and veg were old. Potatoes over seasoned and the rice was past due. Not worth it. Worst Greek food I've ever had

If you love Indian food and you are in the Ottawa region, you should drop by and give this place a try! They serve lots of good food and the seating area is quite nice. We took the basmati rice with salad, the Aloo tikki, the butter chicken and something with beef but I forgot the name of it. The food was exceptionally good and it didn’t take much time to get to us. Parking is not free, it’s 0.05$ a minute. Aside from that everything was amazing including the staff.

How have I not reviewed my favourite shawarma place in the whole, wide world? 6 stars! I have eaten here since 1993. With just a few small tables along one side of a narrow restaurant, the dine-in experience is all about the food. I have come to appreciate amazing homemade garlic sauce, tabouli made by the owner and some of the best beet-pickled turnip ever. I will continue to drop by for (mostly) chicken platters as long as I'm able and continue to be happy to pick them up for friends. There are plenty of okay-to-good shawarma spots in Ottawa, but this one will always be my favourite!
Located in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward market, and HIGHLY recommend! I’ve been coming here since I was in University for their chicken Pastilla (10+yrs ago). Love their lamb shank with rice and couscous for lunch too. Pick up is quick and easy. It gets pretty busy at lunch time but the owner is super nice! Love the hot sauce on the side.

We are vegans and found there were a decent amount of options for us. We left satisfied food-wise though a couple extra options wouldn’t hurt. And the pictures all around are pretty. But my oh my, is the place filthy. That was really disappointing. It doesn’t do much to inspire confidence in the hygiene of the kitchen and takes away from the beauty of the place despite the pretty pictures everywhere. Nice service, good food, but quite dirty, in my humble opinion.
My husband and I went in for lunch today. The guy at the counter was less than polite, he acted as though we were an inconvenience. My husband and I both got S2 walk in specials we paid $30 for two wraps and a side of potatoes, the food was okay, a little bland, chicken was fatty, we didn’t get tzatziki sauce with our potatoes. I more than likely will find somewhere else that sells Greek near me. It’s a shame because it’s very close to home.
Very chill spot with amazing food and amazing portion sizes. Highly highly recommend you get a regular mixed plate, with spicy garlic sauce and hummus. This fed two people who hadn’t eaten all day for only $20 dollars, just mind blowing. All their meat is juicy, and their rice is cooked to perfection

Great food, terrible service. I order from them regularly, however I changed my phone number & placed an order online for delivery and they called me saying because this number isn't in the system they can't deliver. I called back for them to hangup on my 3 times.
Staff has provided an exceptional service. Food is just delicious here. Chef’s recommendations were absolutely worth trying. I would attest to those recommendations as well.

The worst shawarma I've ever tried, I don't know if it's even safe to eat that, I don't if these guys ever heard of (food safety) the food was not fresh and the shawrma were reserved almost at the room temperature, the woman treatment was not the best and I asked her for a spoon she said we don't have spoons and she gave me a knife, how am I supposed to eat the rice in my dish with that, I just left the restaurant I ate part of the food and I hope nothing will happen to me.
Very good food! The Kafta is delicious & juicy and so is the Falafel and everything else! The ambiance is very nice, the decorations are amazing, you definitely won’t find anything like this in Ottawa! The service is also very good.

Cute restaurant with beautiful paintings. The paintings are all hand drawn by the owner and is absolutely lovely. Each is very unique and very detailed. People come from afar just to admire these beautiful paintings and his delicious food.

Fantastic food. The owner, Omar is an extremely talented cook and artist. He suggested the lamb kafta plate, which was delicious with ample portions. Also tried the grape leaves for the first time, was blown away!

Curries were out of this world 👍 the flavors were super deep and complex, very large chunks of melt in your mouth meats and nice and thick gravy/sauce. Both curries tasted extremely different than one another! 🍛

Food was delicious and everyone behind the counter was nice. The chicken was particularly good, not dry like it happens too often in this type of restaurant. We'll go back for sure.

Salang is by far one of the best restaurants in the city across all cuisines. We come here frequently as a family and greatly appreciate the quality of food and service! The Shami Kabob plates are incredibly delicious but their are many other dishes for everyone and this restaurant is a must try! Often we are served by Nameera who goes above and beyond to ensure our dining experience is incredible. She has made the experience more enjoyable and we are always glad to see her!

The ambience/interior design was really beautiful. The service was very poor. There was only one person who was cooking and serving the customers, which was very inefficient. Therefore, we had to wait for some time until our order was taken and our food was served. We were super hyped about the food but the quality was so average and the shawarma beef plate was made with ground beef, which was unexpected. The portion sizes were small too. The falafel was good and the foods had nice presentations. Overall, I don’t recommend this place and won’t be going back.

This was my first time ordering from Greek on Wheels and I must say I’m very impressed! Not only was the young man at the front desk amazingly friendly, but the food… THE FOOD!

We order from the downtown location pretty regularly and we've never been let down. I especially appreciate that the food is always clearly hot and fresh, since that's often hit or miss with a lot of places that deliver. Great service!
Very happy with the food. The store was nicely decorated. There were mirrors or glass that were painted with door scenes....very beautiful and for sale. The waiter was great.,,no issues. I enjoyed my beef kebab...the hummus and baba g was excellent. Will definitely return.
Amazing food and the friendliest service! Definitely try the pastilla (chicken honey filo) don't get turnoff, it's a heavenly mashup of savory and sweet. The lamb leg is amazing too.

We went for dinner there. No other customers were there although nearby restaurants filled with people. We specifically went there to try egg hoppers and kottu despite the bad reviews. The food were extremely bad (the look is ok). The egg hoppers were not as we expected or requested. The kottu did not taste good. If you know what authentic hoppers and kottu are, you will be really disappointed. They gave coconut sambal with hoppers but that was the worst coconut sambal I have ever tasted in my life. Despite the quality, the food was extremely expensive. Soon after we arrived home all of us got diarrhea. Probably because of the bad eggs. This restaurant should be avoided at all cost.

A regular customer of Greek on Wheels. Love supporting local businesses and always order from the website instead of apps. I was incredibly disappointed this time by how undercooked the meat was. I called the establishment and the clerk was unable do to anything to rectify the issue of undercooked meat. Everytime I made an order from Greek on Wheels in the past, it included meat. It was always cooked through and through as it should be. After knowing this and paying $65 plus a tip to the delivery person, nothing was done to fix this issue. The clerk was understanding and professional but the management refused to do anything besides offer a "free" salad the next order. A free salad is not an ideal solution for me as it already comes with the orders I usually make. This is upsetting as I took up the issue with the business as a first step instead of running to Google and writing a review without informing the business. As a result of this ordeal, I was not able to touch my food and have been feeling nauseous just at the thought of undercooked meat. I understand it has been difficult for local business these past couple of years but there must be an ideal way to satisfy and keep customers instead of not taking their complaints seriously. I don't think I will be ordering from this establishment for a while.

I've been going here for a long time now, 1 to 4 times a month after going to physio and massage therapy at their next door(2 doors down) neighbors. The food is excellent and healthy, Greek. Service is also excellent. They are great people. I gave four stars for the atmosphere only because it's a take out place and thus not as attractive as a high cuisine, 7 course meal, reserve months in advance, and pay a fortune kind of restaurant, but it's still OK. I'm adding pictures so you can see. Also adding a pic of item #10 I ate, a chicken souvlaki with greek salad. As you can see... it's really good 👍 👌 😉
Order delivery from this location more times than I’d like to admit. One of the few places in Ottawa with super consistent delicious food. Please don’t change anything! Have a really good thing going on here.

This is my daughter’s favourite restaurant. She is picky but this restaurant never disappoints. And of course I really like it as well. We have always had a wonderful experience with this location. We once had a bit longer of a wait time than usual and the person running the store was fantastic to speak to and handled the situation wonderfully and gracefully. I have worked in restaurants for 16+ years and I am always very impressed with the service here. Fantastic job.
Heard some great things about this bistro located smack in the middle of Byward market. Once in, expect the proper middle eastern welcome and hospitality. Everyone smiles while making eye contact and the place is very well docarated. In the natural setting of this place, you will get an instance where you'd think you are in a Moroccan 'bazar'.
Food is magnifique. We tried almost everything on the menu and it tasted so good! From the plater we had chicken, lamb, kefta and merguez (Moroccan Sausage). The salmon tasted great as well. Everything comes with either rice or couscous. Topped with some vegetables and chickpeas and binding all those together with some seriously good sauce. We ended our culnary journey with some baklava and other Moroccan sweets. We also had some authentic tea poured by the Captian himself!
Always love visiting this part of Canada. Now we have a reason to keep coming back.
Food is magnifique. We tried almost everything on the menu and it tasted so good! From the plater we had chicken, lamb, kefta and merguez (Moroccan Sausage). The salmon tasted great as well. Everything comes with either rice or couscous. Topped with some vegetables and chickpeas and binding all those together with some seriously good sauce. We ended our culnary journey with some baklava and other Moroccan sweets. We also had some authentic tea poured by the Captian himself!
Always love visiting this part of Canada. Now we have a reason to keep coming back.
We found this place while looking for a wholesome option for lunch. We were not disappointed. Thr portions were generous. We ordered a large but struggled to finish it. It was loaded with chicken and veggies. Service was quick. The shawarma sandwich could have used more garlic sauce but we were provided extra at no additional charge.
We came here because another restaurant in the area we wanted to visit had a wait time of 1 hour and 30 minutes (!!!). I selected this restaurant on a whim through Google Maps. I'm glad I did. The food here is great. My 5 year old daughter loved eating everything we gave her. We ordered a Royal Plate. The service was excellent as well.

The ambience is quite pretty, the in-house garlic and tzatziki sauces were phenomenal & the owner is very warm and welcoming!!

Tasty food and not too spicy. Great service . The eggplant khurma is amazing. Fresh naan bread and great super moist lamb shank. Butter chicken was great too

Which restaurant puts egg and chicken in a dish they name as "vegetable biryani". And masala dosa tasted really bad.
Good place to catch-up with old friends. The food is fresh and portions are fair. The service was really great! We asked for leftovers to be packed and they did so quite elegantly.
The restaurant used to have really good food. It was fresh and delicious and a great fusion on Sri Lankan and South Indian food.
Unfortunately my most recent experiences since a couple of months has been awful. The curries and chutneys were stale. The flavour was, to put it lightly, quite terrible. The steamed dishes were old and dry.
I tried them again despite the bad experience and it turned out to be even worse.
It is really sad that the restaurant has gone down significantly in quality and care. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting some decent food.

Amazing, juicy meat with tangy sauce - I found where all the locals go! It’s very busy here with locals. The flavour profile has a lot of depth, the meat was tender too. I don’t eat middle eastern food a lot besides shawarma so this is my go to now.
Family platter was very good- I did takeout and they have parking too.
Eggplant korma was so good, loved the bread.
Will be back for the highly acclaimed lamb dish.

Great flavours, very filling. They make everything fresh, so factor that in to the timing. Highlights were the squash curry, chicken dosa, fish curry (with the thali).
In my life I had been living in South Indian region for 2 years. I had so many south Indian food here and there. But this restaurant broke my heart. 👎🏻👎🏻 food quality is not good then the price. Super higher price then other Indian restaurant in this area. I had Masala Dosa and Mutton Biryani which was a bad dream for me now. Come on man, improve your food quality not price. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Great family owned business serving delicious Tamil food. Can't compare to GTA price/quality, but for Ottawa this place is great!!
Definitely recommend if you want to try something new. They don't skimp on the spice, so let them know your preference - they are very accommodating and kind people.

Delicious Afghani food for a reasonable price. Really nice that they go the extra mile with the giant fresh piece of bread and the homemade lentil soup. Sitting area is also clean, fresh and modern.
We came here at 1:45pm for a Saturday lunch. We were the only customers for the first hour or so and it was very quiet (which I like). The bollywood music video was muted, for which I was grateful. Inside, there is minimal decor and ambiance. Upon entering, we also got hit by the Indian spice + BO combo that is pretty strong until you get used to it.
Service was great. Owner answered all our questions about the menu, refilled water promptly, and came to ask how the food was each time an item was served. The food didn't come very quickly but I can understand given there was no customer before us and they might have had to turn everything back on to cook for us lol.
Masala tea = one serving was enough for the 2 of us. Just the right amount of sweetness and very pleasant mix of spices.
Beef thali = There were 5 different little dishes + rice & a chip thing. Squash, chickpea, cabbage, etc. All delicious, and tasted fresh. Just be careful to not bite into the super spicy seeds. 80% of the beef was not tough but there were 1 or 2 pieces that were tough.
String hoppers Kothu chicken = Imagine chicken pad thai with an Indian flavour. It was delicious. My SO wasn't going to finish it.....but he did without even realizing.
Payasam = We shared this dessert. Tapioca was undercooked and still hard in the middle so it was difficult to chew...too bad because the rest of the dish was all nice & smooth. Other than that, good comfort food kind of dessert.
