I had an incredible takeaway experience. From the moment i walked in, the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. I tried the Chicken on Chips and Chicken on rice and each bite was bursting with unique flavors. The little details made all the difference. This place is now my go-to spot for me and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
You need to try this food! Since the new management began, the food is on point - this is the best Souvlaki I've had. The guys are always friendly, and are very efficient. I have returned several times and will continue to do so.

Pothichor is an affordable eatery in Christchurch if you crave some South Indian Kerala cuisine. I had a fish curry meal, which was fantastic. The flavors closely resemble those of home 😀 I am glad to have them here 😀
Terrible, watery tomato sauce and lettuce. No homemade hummus or garlic yogurt like it said on their board. Chicken tasted sweet? I’d make a 10x better one at home and save money.

Just had a meal here which was the $13.50 lunch box, definitely exceeded expectations. The chicken was really tender and flavourful and the rice was super nice. They really went above and beyond for what price you are paying.
UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS: I purchased a falafel souvlaki on 8th August from them, Unfortunately, I Never had this type of poor quality falafel in my life, products seemed stale so I decided to put google review so they can improve.

Best South Indian food ever in Christchurch, with not only idli dosa, the authentic dishes which many of us hasn't even heard.

Perhaps the most authentic Kerala cuisine around and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. I visited Kerala many years ago on a tour of the southern parts of India, and fell in love with their vegetarian and seafood based cuisine. It's great to have the opportunity to relive the experience so close to home. The only feedback I have is to include larger spoons and generally more cutlery : ) Thanks!

One of the best paneer curries I've ever had. They made up a paneer dish with mushrooms and tomatoes for me that wasn't even on the menu. Such nice people and amazing food, highly recommend 👍👍
We had Doug and the team cater for our after day wedding event! Boy these guys delivered. The communication, service, and food was insane! An event that our guests will not stop talking about! Close to 90 burgers and fries! Full belly’s and hearts! Cannot thank you guys enough. Kaylee and Jacob 🫶🏻😎

We have always loved bacon Bro's and recommended them, however today I was disappointed with my Andy the electrician burger. It is the one i always order, but today It just lacked flavor and was well below average. I hope it was just a once off. My wife says her Vegan burger Bryan the fireman was still as nice as they always have been. I would probably want to eat somewhere else next time.
EDIT: The owner contacted me and arranged for me to come back to have another Andy Burger...and I must say this one was really good...the balance of flavors with sauces was just right and evenly spread on the burger so that all of it tasted great. So I have upgraded my rating based on the good service and making up for the previous burger 🙂

Best souvlaki I've ever had. Friendly service, fresh salads and large portions for price. My favorite!
We had Bacon Brothers cater our wedding and it was perfect! Everyone raved about the burgers and fries! Such a friendly team and so easy to deal with! We had just over 80 people to feed and they did it so quickly! Would definitely recommend their food truck for wedding catering, everyone that came said it was such a good idea and my husband and I couldn't agree more!

But then I saw it being sold to a new owner, so I assumed the taste would change.
Thought I’ll give it a benefit of doubt today and try it but nothing surprising.

Great value lunch special. $15 for butter chicken, rice, naan and soft drink. Really nice food and plenty of meat in the curry. Definitely recommend for a value for money and tasty lunch.
We kept coming in this nice restaurant,and that time we came they offered 1 meal and another choice of ours .. authentic Indian.. great price .

Curry is tasty but waited over an hour from ordering to food arriving. Very disappointing amount of rice for the size of our group, and we were refused any more. We all had curry left over, and they charged for takeaway containers

ordered via delivereasy. tikka masala was ok but not memorable. butter chicken was quite sugary tasting (which my husband likes somehow!? 😑). didn't listen to request for no garlic on the naan, was definitely still eaten tho. Reordered since and same experience with the chicken korma as the butter chicken, but the balti chicken was absolutely delicious so they've got one thing spot on.
Really good service, the staff gave good recommendations. The burger was mouth watering. Not greasy despite having a fried egg, sausage and bacon on it. Left me wanting seconds.

Gone downhill a bit, so just check orders when they're made. Put hot sauce in a souvlaki when it was meant for kids. Then made another souvlaki with so much lettuce, and forgot the tzatziki and tomato, then had language barrier confused when i rang to complain. But they remade one as a correction so ok
Fabulous restaurant. The food is very tasty.... authentic flavoured cuisine! And good on them for keeping their prices reasonable when some of their competitors are inflating theirs at an extortionate rate. Will always support fair business owners!

Got a really average souvlaki here. Recalled in the past getting more than just lettuce and meat. Meat was dry and the rest lacked flavour. Disappointing, used to come here with workmates when we had an office on Colombo street and we all loved it.

As a very regular customer of Mythos during the time that the original owners had the business, I am very frustrated when I read comments saying that the current owners weren’t given the original recipes and enough training. I know for a fact that all recipes were given plus 2 full weeks of training in order for the current owners to carry on the fantastic traditional taste. That the new owners have chosen to go in a new direction is not a reflection on the wonderful people that established Mythos and kept it successful for 15 years
Ordered the Rogan Josh combo. The dish had good flavour and the lamb was tender. The naan bread was fluffy rather than thin, flat and lifeless like you get from some places. Was a tasty satisfying meal and ticked all the boxes for me
If I could give 0 stars I would. And judging by your past replies to feedback I assume this one will be met with a negative response too. However…. The lamb souvlaki was quite possibly the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. The meat was grissly and unseasoned, the bread was soggy, the sauces flavour was non existent, the entire thing fell apart when I pulled it out of the bag. $19 for something I had 2 bites of and threw the rest in the bin. What the hell happened to this place!!! I’m so disappointed!

We've been keen to try this place for ages and it did not disappoint! The falafel was homemade and delicious, and surprisingly, there was a vegan option offered. (I took mine home and added coconut yoghurt, which really hit the spot, but a dairy free in-house option would be amazing!) The chips were tasty and portions good. We'll definitely be back! 22/10/2023 - Butter Chicken Combo on the Menu was $19.99. I was charged $20. I know it’s only 1c but if they are doing this for every transaction? I’m disappointed with the Dis-honesty and I will never be back because of 1c scamming. May contact the IRD.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This place is clean. The lady is lovely. And the food is fresh. Full of flavor. And delicious. Our new go to.

Wow, just wow! Pothichor's Chatti Choru is a game-changer. The flavors, the presentation, the service – everything was top-notch. I felt like I was experiencing a taste of Kerala in Christchurch. The earthen pot added a wonderful earthy flavor to the curries, and the portions were generous. I'm so glad I got to experience this unique dining experience. Can't wait to come back and try more!

goog guy, food is good, way better than other places, portion size is huge compared to other restaurants, keep it up, i bought lam madras from them and it was packed, other restaurants hardly put few pieces in it and just add mainly gravy in it, but this place is opposite.
A great place with a variety of Indian cuisine for a reasonable price. Staff is friendly and the place is clean and well maintained. The food is delicious and absolutely worthy for the price paid. They are also available in a number of delivery platforms as well.

Tried a Bacon Bros Burger at Little High. The burger and chips were good, I tried the electrician, which is one of the more simple burgers, but still tasty. The patty is a homemade style, beef mince slapped together, but it all tasted great. They also have a wide range of drinks available.

Had Butter chicken, garlic naan and a mango lassi, Butter chicken was tasty a touch sweet for my liking but still pretty good nice flavour, naan was good personally I like it with a bit more softer texture but what I got was nice. Would come again and would recommend trying Zyka
Hell yeah, this is a good burger. Small for sizing and a little sloppy but it’s worth it. The loaded fries were pretty good. Kind service. They have an organic cola that I tried, not a fan but nice aesthetic.
I have been coming here for the 16-17 years this family have owned the business. They know my order from memory and have never let me down. I love the double chicken souvlaki with hot chili and extra yoghurt sauce. It's a great option for lunch or to grab an early dinner on the way home from work cos they are only open the South City Mall hours. The flavour combinations of the sauces they use and the marinade on the meat before its grilled, combined with the freshness of the salad ingredients and the fluffy pita bread, makes this one of my favorite souvlaki places in Christchurch.
First time here tonight and wasn't disappointed. Food was fresh, hot and full of flavor. When we ordered the incorrect amount of Naan, they whipped up an additional one quickly. Great service and food full of flavor. Was a good price in comparison to other Indian food shops around too. A great experience. Thank you. 🙂
I would give 10 stars if possible. My chef surprise fish was beautiful and service excellent. This place is amazing hidden gem! All of this was for 'walk in' Anzac dinner for 13 people! Not a small task! But flawless and so well done! I am already telling all my friends and work mates about it and will be back no doubt. Thank u guys! 💓

This place is incredible, Jane behind the counter is the most friendliest and knows how to make everyone end their day in joy! She recommends the dish that caters to ur diets and also offers free drinks!!! I ordered uber eat and i have got wrong order. I ordered peas and paneer but i have got peas and potato curry i had to eat that as i was hungry but this is tasteless. Naan is very hard to chew. Worst food i have ever had.not recommend anyone to order from here.

Deliciously messy is my best description of Taste of Egypt! I’ve been going here for Years & it’s always fantastic! I decided to get a small & was jam packed with salad & meat as the large is too big for me. Love the flavour & speed of service. The only down is the plastic forks which I decline but you kinda need a fork as it’s a messy but amazing!
The food was great, but the restaurant doesn't accept cash. It would make sense to accept cash to keep customers' experience smooth, instead of them then having to transfer money into an account to pay.

The only thing that surprised me about this place was the fact it wasn’t packed to the rafters with a waiting list to book.
Every herb and spice perfectly placed and the flavour was to die for, and quite simply the best cheese and garlic naan I have ever eaten.
The owner/front house is well mannered, prompt and very friendly.
Myself and my partner left incredibly full! If I could score more than 5 I would. Highly recommend anyone who hasn’t tried this place.
I’ll look forward to visiting again in feb next year!

Pretty nice experience at Pothichor. Although it is not something that goes according to my taste but the food was good. Good portion size and price is reasonable. We had masala dosa and idli. Nice interior and pretty clean. The waiting time was too long for us. People who love South Indian food must give it a shot. Just not my cup of tea. Best wishes 👍🏼

Best Indian takeaway in town. All the curries are delicious and different - some places seem to just have the same gravy for multiple flavoured curries. Really authentic flavours, and the extras are just as good. Love the lamb chops.
Your coming off a hard and busy day at work. You’re starving, you need some lunch. You waddle your way to the food court and you’re presented with plentiful options. Maccas? Nah had that one too many times. The Japanese place looks good but can’t be bothered using the chopsticks. What’s that? A large meat on chips for $12? Absolute bargain. You order your food and you watch as the wonderful lady cooks your chicken and chips right in front of you. You can smell it, that gorgeous aroma slowly make its way into your post Covid messed up nose. The food is presented to you with a huge smile and a lovely “thank you”. You stumble your way back to the smoko room, holding back the urge to munch down your on the walk. You sit down and open that environmentally friendly cardboard box. It glimmers, like finding buried treasure. You stare at it for a good sec and then dig in. Freshly fried chips and juicy chicken goes down your throat. It’s beautiful. You scoff down the rest of it and you’re in bliss. Your full and ready for another 5 hours of whining customers and minimum wage work.

For the price the salad was underwhelming. It was mixed meat and I found that it was lacking. It was very oily and the meat was like crumby. Not what I was expecting. Next day went over to pita pit and the salad was much better. Can’t comment on the other products however
Standards have dropped. Chicken trebbile food slopped all over tray' only one napkin to clean mess.
I used to dislike this place because of their attitude and poor servings but since the woman have been serving it has been a much better experience ..keep it up please

Not as great . It is ok to feed your stomach. You can get here pasta, souvlaki, Kabab and salad. All comes with chicken, lamb and mixed options. The test and quantity is average. Stuffs was so kind and good. We ordered salad but mistakenly they prepared souvlaki but without doing any argument they changed it quickly. Price tags are nominal.

I wanted to love Shamiana, I really did, every other branch I've been to has been absolutely fantastic, but the palms branch really dropped the ball.
First off, pet hate, serving on chipped dinnerware.
Second, the beef in my beef vindaloo was feral, it was full of disgusting fat.

Saw staff member use men's toilet never washed his hands and went straight back into serving area. Not a good sight.
This is by lengths the most tasty Indian take-out option in Christchurch that I have come across (and I have tried a few.) The staff are friendly. Their extensive menu is available online and ordering over the phone is always efficient. When you pick up your order, you are greeted by the aroma of fresh spices. While being essentially a basic take-away shop, there is nevertheless the feel of a family-run business with staff who really care to the place. The menu has a large range of options, and the food is consistently delicious. Highly recommended!
