They can do better about informing their instructors on when the location will be closed, canceling classes, when students plan to go there to learn.

I used to love this studio but have been consistently disappointed and disrespected with my time and money. Last minute cancellations, late start times, and no reasonable concessions for their inability to operate as a professional environment. Seems to be a truly profit driven organization and not worth your time if you want to authentically grow as a dance artist. Don’t waste your time here. There are so many better studios to go to in the city. Don’t waste your money or energy.

So fun! What a great experience. Haven’t danced in years and was such a great class. I’d like to go back and do more foundational dance as I think the beginner level is still a bit hard.

One of my favorite places to dance in NYC! Professional choreographers and instructors, and the front desk personnel are always so helpful.

I definitely recommend for dancers who are seeking to expand their repertoire and progress professionally. Good selection of classes and in a nice location.
What a great production and even better Cast and Crew. Each person was extremely nice and very grateful I truly enjoyed my time with you all
cheers

This is one of the best Ballet Schools in New York. The faculty are invested in helping adults learn.
I’ve been taking my children to the little gym for a very long time & I usually have nothing but amazing things to say but recently I noticed an employee there getting mistreated. This girl is so sweet with my kids. They love her, yet every time I pick my kids up I see the same employee getting treated unfairly, I overheard management or a coworker reprimanding her in a way I thought was belittling & I was so shocked. This isn’t the little gym I’ve grown to know & love. Things are different now & I actually love all of you but the mistreatment of your employees that actually really love their job is simply unacceptable. I hope this doesn’t cause trouble for the girl but I really just wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t speak up. Please change the way you are treating your employees. I love taking my kids to the gym but if this continues to go on I don’t think I’d feel safe leaving my children around a hostile environment.

Amazing school with amazing staff!!! The neighborhood is so lucky to have such an amazing school! When I had problems with registering multiple classes online, Amy was so patient and helpful answering my calls and later helped me register class by class when they found out there was something wrong with the system! My kids have been enjoying the classes!!!
My family and I love and appreciate Greenhouse Arts Center. This community has helped my daughter tremendously with transitioning, following instructions and most of all helped to enhanced her love of dance and being among peers her age. These things once were challenges for us as she is on the ASD spectrum, but no longer and for that we are grateful. If any parent is considering to have their littles or themselves join this beautiful program I say run don’t walk. I’m blessed to have found a program that fits my families needs. We love it there!! Xoxoxo
I really wish that HSA would be more affordable for the people that is raised and born or better yet lives in this community for over 15 years should get a discount and I’m not talking about financial Aid!!! Which by the way want all my business just for my kid to attend an art program. Now that Harlem is more open to the different Cultures!!!!!! We the Harlem
knights pay the price for it. FYI I went to HSA when it was all black people in Harlem and trust me my mommy did not pay in the 1000’s either.

I signed up for a beginners class, and I was so lost I had to leave within the first 10 minutes. The class just started all of a sudden -- no instructor introduced themselves or anything about the class, people just started moving. It took me a minute to identify who was even leading the class. Then the instructor would just clap and everyone seemed to automatically know what move to do next. As a person who has never taken a dance class before, I had no idea what was going on. Why didn't the instructor use their words to introduce themselves and describe each movement? Why was there no demonstration of each step? And how did everyone know the moves already? I intentionally signed up for a beginners class, *not* the open level class -- consider yourself warned that your classmates are at least intermediate dancers. I'm sure this studio is great if you have a dance background, but I do not recommend for absolute beginners.

It's the perfect place to take a dance class, from ballet to salsa and everything in between. Also, performances regularly. Children's program and a small cafe. Actually, they closed the café but still a great place for little ones to grown up!

Great experience ever!
I’ve taken two intermediate classes (adult division) so far at the studio (each with a different teacher) and both were fantastic, relatively small classes (4-15 students each). Fun and engaging teachers who give helpful corrections and encouragement. I love that both teachers seemed to approach their classes with the perspective that adult ballet dancers want to learn and improve to be the best dancers they can be—teaching class rather than giving class. Looking forward to going back. Fun energy in the halls and locker/changing room as well- friendly and kind dancers.

Amazing dance teachers. This is a not a review about them. It's about the facility and admin staff that take a cut of the class payments. While in general I want to support dance spaces in the city, it's hard to recommend Peridance with their administrative staff/policies and little attention paid to ventilation or floor cleanliness. The facility itself is pretty run down with zero ventilation and awful air quality. It's easy to wonder if the dance floors are regularly cleaned and in some rooms if ever at all. The adult open dance classes are sometimes unprofessionally canceled at the very last minute (sometimes with less than an hour before class time), which is really frustrating. While there are always exceptions, I find the admin staff on the whole are uncaring and serving customers seems to be a burden. It doesn't help that Peridance has hostile customer policies that one needs to careful to navigate, and happens to be more expensive than other nearby options ($24 per class vs $19 per class at PMT dance). I support the dance scene, but Peridance can be a hard place to recommend at times.
ALB has been a favorite place since I moved to the city. The instructors are professional, knowledgeable and give attention to everyone in the room. They still offer virtual and Lindsay gives great Vaganova classes, and at the Union City location Valerie and Pedro give some of my favorite adv/pro classes. I love the push and how they challenge my technique
My daughter just had her 6th birthday party at the Little Gym and it was wonderful! It was a very big group (35 kids for a dropoff party) and the staff ran the whole event so smoothly! It was so much fun! The planning process was also great - Sarah (the director) is so responsive and easy to work with. I highly recommend. It!
As a black mother, I tried to get my children in that school for years. Now as a black grandmother, I tried to get my grandchildren in there. Total of 28 years, I lived across the street from HSA. I guess my black family wasn’t dark enough, too poor & or not light enough. But, my new neighbors are all up in HSA. They could have been the reason why I didn’t watch so closely. At 60 years old, I have to see a lying clown on CBS. I hope no calls me for the truth.
We did our son‘s birthday party here, and I really can’t thank Sarah and the rest of the team enough. They decorated and organized everything, kept 20+ kids happy the entire time and navigated everything perfectly so that we could have fun in a stress free environment. If i could give 6 stars, i would😀 thank you so much!

Please give Marsha a regular weekly class! She makes detailed corrections and is super nice to students. I am trying to make every beginner class that she sub for, and she deserves a regular weekly class!
The entire team at Little Gym UWS has created a safe, loving, and open environment for our children.

The commitment and patience they demonstrate is unrivaled.

This is a fun place for kids to be kids, make mistakes, tumble, grow, and thrive.

Little Gym staff take the time to get to know our children, meet them where they are and recognize their progress against their own benchmarks.

I am eternally grateful for their ability to see my child as a child and an individual in a world that is often filled with those who talk the talk but don't walk the walk on being child-centered.
The staff was so great with the kids and made it a completely enjoyable experience for the parents as well. We were really able to enjoy the day with our kids and the other parents. Everyone had a great time!
The DTH experience was amazing! The young dancers were Amazing. Their dance instructors were Awesome. Everyone was friendly. Everyone's love for dance was Beautiful!

I have heard really awesome stuff about this place for dance enthusiasts and can definitely see how inspiration is promoted between these walls. The building by itself is a great view in a great location. When it comes to life performances, there is definitely an extreme amount of talent and devotion all over the place. The operation of this spot as a venue is flawless, no problem getting in or finding seats and everyone on board is really nice. My only comment is towards the chairs, a place with its head as high as this one should really think on the comfort of the seating audience.
Greenhouse Arts Center has become our Saturday morning home. Every one is always so kind and nurturing to the students and families. The love for dance and bringing the community together shines throughout all they do. My daughter loves it here and looks forward to her class every week. We have been attending Greenhouse for about 2 years now. Thank you!!!
You will always get a ton of individual attention at ALB, which is so hard to find in an adult class. Classes are small and there are many detailed corrections that have helped improve my ballet technique way faster than other open classes around the city. I would recommend any teacher; they're all super knowledgeable and they actually invest in adult students.
Looking for a ballet academy was so stressful because 1. the schools didn't have engaging teachers or 2. There was no technique. Until we landed in American Liberty Ballet and we knew this was the right place because it has it all!

Our daughter Emma has been enjoying ballet for the past 3 years and we love the studio. Valerie is so sweet, passionate and an amazing teacher overall.

Take advantage of the FREE trial class. Your kids will love it!
Ms. Panzica and the Green House Arts team are amazing. My daughter has had the pleasure of having Ms. Panzica as a dance instructor at her school for several years and now at the dance studio. The staff are so inviting and welcoming. My daughters confidence and her ability as a dancer has bloomed so much. I also love that there are boys in some of the classes as well. I absolutely recommend Green House Arts !!!!
Green house arts center is a great spot for the youth of today to enjoy… My 8 year old was invited to a free class in February and we instantly became a new member. She started with 1 class of hip hop dance once a week to now ballet and hip hop classes every week. Journey loves. The classes and the environment… they even have a fitness class for the adults… This is a great affordable place in Harlem for your kids to be able to express yourself. Journey was having a difficult time in school before we joined the dance class now she f do one a complete 360 and her behavior has changed. I recommend this place to kids and adults.. not only do I recommend for kids I attend the fitness class as well.. I recommend greenhouse arts center 100%…
Greenhouse Arts Center came highly recommended by a friend whose children attended for years. This amazing dance studio is now highly recommended by me! I love the atmosphere! The dance instructors are amazing! Children are respected and highly engaged during lessons! Children are encouraged to lead groups and work collaboratively. My children love coming back every Saturday! We travel from Westchester to Harlem. I will follow Greenhouse and its amazing people wherever they go! ❤️
Greenhouse Arts Center is an awesome community organization that allows young children, and adults to learn the arts at an affordable rate. The teachers are all pleasant and supportive. They are organized and really want the best for the students. My daughter loves the classes and the staff members!
Greenhouse Arts Center, simply thank you! Thank you for offering outstanding, talented, gifted, creative and PATIENT professional instructors to our children.

At a time when we all need an outlet, especially our kids, you have risen to the occasion. As a former dance instructor and educator, I know how difficult it can be to provide exceptional service, and Greenhouse does just that and with a smile!!!

I applaud 👏 👏👏 you for providing quality dance instruction to our kids that’s affordable. We appreciate your devotion to maintaining the arts in our community.

Continue your good work as I look forward to the next generation of Broadway and professional dancers - the world will be a better place because of Greenhouse!
My daughter has been going to Greenhouse Art Center for little over a year and she loves it! The staff is amazing and patient with the children; as well as having great communication with the parents. Also, classes are very affordable. I would recommend any parent to bring their child here.
I see that there are some good reviews here. How much is it to go here? Can this be a route that can replace college? Can this mainly focus on acting?
This center for excellence is amazing. The vision and commitment of gifted musician educators and administrators is in full display. Enjoyed a beautiful spring jazz concert available to the public, and can't wait to return for more.
Maa Saakhi is the best. My daughter went from trying to play piano using apps to having an excellent piano teacher who is excellent. She is so thrilled and even practices on her own. I couldn’t be happier with Maa Saakhi.
I have nothing but great things to say about this institution. My daughter started dancing here since the age of 7 and loves it! They are totally professional and welcoming. All the teachers are amazing and know their students well. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions parents aren’t allowed in the building right now, but let me tell you, my favorite part of this whole experience is waiting for my dancer while the music from the accompanist leaks through the hallways.
Amazing , dedicated teachers who give each dancer personal attention and are committed to developing individual skills. Classes are offered both virtually and in studio due to COVID-19. The teachers are also wondering at making the most of whatever space you have to dance in when joining virtually. I’ve been taking classes here for years and am so grateful for this school (now more than ever)!
Great school. I am Rafael Montilla, a visual artist based in Miami, FL. I will be in NYC doing my performance Cube Man "I am you"  July 8, 9 10 2021 Hashtag #cubemannyc. The cube plays a central part of my proposal. It represents a symbol of harmony, unity and balance of our life. I build and deconstruct the cube shape as a fundamental imprint of the universe. “I Am You” performance based in the #thekubeman series I dress in a white suit and the head is a cube-mirror made of acrylic in which people can be reflected; it is a dialogue of people with themselves, because you do not see my identity but the person’s one that is reflected in the cube- mirror. You can experience your identity and your face by looking at me. @cubeman305
I loved this place, going here as a kids was so fun, I wish I lived in NY just to go there again. They start off with the basics, but moves the kids really quickly. I was in ballet and gymnastics. One week I couldn’t even do a cartwheel or handstand but then the other week I’m already falling into my backbends and doing leaps.

Super fun virtual way to learn ballet as an adult. No judgment, challenging, but rewarding. Eliza is full of energy and kind. The choreography is beautiful with the selected music. Every month the dance sequence built on itself and it is so enjoyable to dance it.
I can't say enough great things about the Ballet Spot! Every class I have taken is challenging enough to be a great workout but so fun it doesn't feel like you are working out. The instructors are totally pro and take time to make sure your form is on point. It is as close to being in a studio as you can get. Jump in and take a cardio ballet class and you will be sweating or slow down a little with ballet breathe and flow. So, so great!

I have written positive comments before. I have been taking sculpt regularly with Quincy Hydock since the Pandemic began my motivation was to improve my balance and strength to apply to other activities. I have seen very positive results. I would encourage anyone interested in improving his or her fitness to try the class. As with all classes at the ballet spot no experience necessarily.
I took the live stream total body barre class with Eliza this morning. What a challenge. She is a very good teacher, gives instructions and demos very clearly. The class was structured very well. It put me through the paces I'd not been through for a while. My family was surprised when I praised the class! Thank you! I'm dying to know if her apartment is in Manhattan, the kitchen is a great kitchen.

As someone who took dance classes as a child, this is such a fun way to exercise! My instructor Deepa Liegel hit all the points. She broke down the combination throughout the class so we were warmed up and prepared to do the moves. The energy was upbeat and positive. There was enough challenge and personality in the piece, and she offered modifications so anyone could access it. As a bonus, she gave us background info on the style of ballet we were learning. I feel fortunate to take class at my level, from my apartment with such a talented instructor. I will be back!

Love these online ballet lessons! Just did my first ballet class in 25 years as part of a little group private lesson. Wearing socks. In my living room. Eliza is cheerful, encouraging, and a really lovely dancer. Great workout, completely affordable, inclusive of all levels, pandemic safe... Excited for next week already :)

The live online classes during this pandemic have been wonderful. I had not set foot inside a dance studio in 35 years, and at 62 I thought those days were behind me. The online Cardio Ballet classes are a great workout, while bringing me back to the world of dance in a fun, supportive, non-judgmental setting. The quality of teaching from these professional dancers is outstanding. The Ballet Spot has proven that it's never too late to be a dancer!
We just hosted my son’s 3rd birthday party here and it exceeded my expectations! The instructors were amazing and kept the kids entertained. Everyone had a great time! It’s so nice to find a large space with so much natural light in the city.

My daughter started classes here recently. We got very lucky, and the first teacher we went to, she fell in love with. Both the teacher and the assistants go an extra mile to support my shy girl, and make her feel comfortable and engaged. She’s all smiles to go in and come out.
Although performance is good, I must comment on how guests were treated. I attended with a group of 5. We were all paying guests. We arrived early to have a good seat, but was told that the children 7 and 9 years old could not sit in the front. They would have to sit on the floor if sitting in front, or go on the back. This is not a good practice. We will not go back to their performance
My Name says it all, why am I writing review for this place. I don't even go here.

Edit: Althoughhhh.... I see the reviews are good. I really wanna go here now. I hate my High School and my life is boring.
They have a comprehensive arts program and the instructors are highly qualified and trained. A very nice enviornment for yoing and mature students. With such a rich history, its going to be interesting see the development as gentrification presses on.

Perhaps my favorite place on earth. Okay, top five. I am an adult student, I travel frequently so in addition to trying to a couple other studios in NYC I've tried several in other cities in the US and even a few abroad, so I feel I can say with some authority NOTHING COMPARES TO BALLET ACADEMY EAST. Seriously, the teachers here are phenomenal, they truly care, they don't treat you like an out of shape human in an ill fitting leotard (how I tend to feel in dance class) rather they treat you like their life depends on you learning how to dance correctly. You will get tons of feedback and corrections. The teachers explain and mark everything so you will never be confused or uncertain of how to dance. They have so many levels so you can be certain that so long as you attend a class at your level you will be able to do everything in that class (although it will certainly still be a challenge). Such a privilege to learn from these teachers.
We have attended classes in the past and just held my daughter's 4th birthday at The Little Gym. The party was so much fun for all of the kids, they got to run, dance and try different gymnastics moves for the activity portion of the party. I LOVED the coaches especially Brandon and it was great that they were so flexible letting us use our own playlist for the party area and bring in any food we wanted. We are already thinking we'll have the 5th birthday party here!
Good school, great teachers, wonderful staff, just not the place for me, signed up for ballet lessons and payed 1 thousand for one measly class and got another class that I didn’t even want. In total I basically payed for 2 months worth of classes which sucks because they have great teachers that I would love to learn more from but unfortunately I got 1 hour and 30 minutes with them once every week, would recommend to anyone who is interested in other types of dances like hip hop or African :) Amazing school
Today was my granddaughters first ballet class here she's
4 such an amazing experience for her everyone there from the security staff to every teacher is amazing Mr Aubrey Lynch taught her class today. This gentlemen is phenomenal his resume speaks for itself he's the male Debbie Allen

The best for adult ballet classes. Great teachers, small classes and a wholesome diverse group of adults. There's also a live piano with creative fun pianists who will make dancing to the music a breeze even for a first time beginner.

Best school ever
I was able to catch the Dance Theater of Harlem when they performed in New Orleans. The ballet was not traditional, so as long as you go with that perspective, you will probably enjoy it. They performed several pieces and threw 1 traditional piece in the middle. That 1 performance was amazing, from the music to the lighting to the costumes. I really enjoyed it, but too bad it only lasted a few minutes.
I love this school because they offer so many different classes that there's a place for each child. My daughter loves this school because she enjoys dancing ballet and contemporary dance. One of the perks about the dance department is part that they're part of The American Ballet School which is a plus. It's one of the very few schools in the Uptown Manhattan area that offers art enrichment for children at a reasonable price.
You want a place that will tell you like it is, this is the place. Professionals who care about what they teach and the connections they make with their students. The improvement in my sons acting, his singing is remarkable.

I am going to this school today
Absolutely love ALB! I stopped dancing for a while and was in the look out for a new school where I could "pick up where I left off" without judgements. I found them through Groupon and ever since day one I felt so comfortable and welcome! Great teachers who pay attention to detail and give one-on-one corrections because the classes are relatively small and they can see everyone. The regulars are also sweet and we all have fun dancing together! ALB offers classes everyday after "regular work hours" which is also the best thing ever for those who are passionate about dance but also have a 9-5.
I love taking class here! Classes are small, which means lots of individual attention to technique. The instructors have great personalities and really care. The other students are friendly-we always have a great time in class!
ALB has professional training in a fun and kind atmosphere that is for everyone who wants to truly learn the art of dance.
Beginning-advanced-performance opportunities with artists who are genuine and want to share the joys of dance with all!
It looks like my original review was read and reacted to through the sudden surge of 5 star review within a week of my review. I am disappointed that the studio did not respond in an effort to amend or sympathize with my experience. Instead, there was an effort to counteract my low rating review...

In any case, I have increased my rating because my intention was not to ruin a business rating but, to bring attention to a bad experience and help the company take action towards providing a welcoming and encouraging environment for all students - regardless of whether you speak Russian or if you are returning to dance after a few years away.

I wish the studio best of luck. Thanks!
John,
Thank you so much for the full year scholarship from the New York Performing Arts Academy. I learned so much in your program. All of your instructors were so knowledgeable and experienced in their fields.
For the Acting Department, the lessons from both you and Karina were invaluable, and will help me in the rest of my career. Besides the regular lessons, like acting out scenes from movies like “The Little Princess”, learning about the behind the scenes work that goes into producing a play or movie will help me be more competitive in the future.
Working with Devon on dance was so much fun. He had great routines, and really knew how to get us up and moving.
Also, the modeling coaching definitely made a difference during my modeling competition, where I won Miss Fashion Tourism USA and, Miss Tourism USA Junior Teen. I will take those lessons with me to my international competition in January.
I wish I had not had to move to North Carolina. If was still close enough, I would still be attending your academy. I can’t believe that some of the girls I was training with have gone on to movies and plays. Your program is amazing.

Emily Concepcion
Miss Tourism USA Junior Teen 2017
Love everything about the academy. Very professional and inspirational for the performers.
Teachers for adult classes are great and more easygoing than other studios. If you ask for help, they are always more than happy to oblige. Other students are helpful, not at all snooty. Studio space is a bit smaller making floor work for a night class a bit crowded. I love that there is always a ballet pianist which adds to the authenticity of the experience. Make sure you read class description and place yourself in the appropriate skill level class!
My granddaughter who is five attends Saturday classes here. She loves it! The teachers are great, the facilities are very nice. Classes are a good size and the children are excited about what they are accomplishing.
The Little Gym UWS offers a great opportunity for caregivers and little ones to enjoy some fun and get the wiggles out. The classes offer a great combination of structured activities and free play, and the lead instructor, Jordan, is full of enthusiasm, excellent at executing his lesson plan, and simply wonderful with children. My daughter and I have really enjoyed our experience and plan to continue attending.
the teachers are very helpful, everybody is very nice, I've never felt judged, great technique and advise, and believe me is a great workout. I have a background in martial arts, and this really help to work my body, weather you want to revised basics, improve your technique, or get a great workout, this place is great.
They always come out with dances done with great professionalism. It's a traveling dance troupe and they'll perform in NY. It's great for families and full of culture. The shows are pretty affordable and they even have kids shows where kids can come talk to the dancers after the shows. There isn't food served inside the theater, but there's always food nearby. You gotta check out the Dance Revelations, it's awesome.
