Classically beautiful building in the heart of Mt. Vernon, blending seamlessly into the Washington Monument area. I took a dance class and a singing class for personal enrichment there. The faculty is top-notch.
Pretty cool space. I actually went in there accidentally thinking it was the Peale but it turned out to be the Peabody. There’s a couple of awesome exhibits up, one in Ethel Ennis and another on Elizabeth Talford Scott. I contributed to their prompt wall for Scott. While I was there, I went to the guy at the desk at the back to get help finding something and he was super thorough about it. I will be back to check out more regarding the books and to see more of the Ethel’s exhibit and just in general. They have seats you can sit down at with your computer so.
Amazing energy here — I just walked passed yesterday afternoon and all of the students exuded so much joy. The kids seemed so fulfilled!
Hampden Dance Arts is my absolute favorite studio of all time and Casey is the BEST teacher I’ve ever had.
I’ve met a lot of dancers and choreographers, tried various classes in my life - but Casey tops them all. She’s extremely welcoming, kind, patient, skilled, versatile and creative. Casey knows how to cater to all skill levels and always provides the exact notes or encouragement you need to improve.
Besides her knowledge, experience and talent, what stands out about Casey is how much she cares about her students. Casey TRULY cares that every student in the room is benefitting/learning and will always slow down to help someone find their groove. Casey creates an accepting, comfortable environment where everyone can grow. She’s transformed my dancing, as well as my confidence as a dancer.
I haven’t taken class with Jenn yet, but I’ve always appreciated her kindness and flexibility! I decided to take my first class very last minute and called in a panic—unsure if they had room. She was very friendly and accommodating over the phone. When I mistakenly paid for sessions without the multi-class discount, Jenn promptly applied a refund for me and was very communicative.
Adult classes here are the best part of my week. If you’re an experienced dancer looking for classes in the DMV - or want to try out something new - this is the spot!!

I brought my daughter here to try outs and my daughter fell in love with the studio and the dance routines she been excited since day one I really love the way Ms Linda works with her and my daughter be happy to see her and her dance friends. This is a very very good place to come and dance of all kinds.

I took a series of adult beginner ballet classes, and I had a positive experience overall. The teacher was very knowledgeable, and I definitely learned a lot. The only downside was that she wasn't very patient or encouraging and regularly got frustrated with members of the class when they couldn't execute something based on the instructions she gave or their current level of ability. I didn't find it to be a positive or supportive vibe, so I probably wouldn't go back. My sense is that this is probably a great place for kids classes, but if you're an adult looking for a dance class that's going to pick you up, this may not be for you.
The best dance studio. They were able to get us ready for the first dance within a week of our wedding. They choreographed a dance that suits our religion, culture and portraying our love story in a very beautiful way! Thank you.
MSDC is absolutely amazing. My daughter is 5 and this was her second year there and she loves it, and her father and I are just as pleased. It fosters a sense of confidence, community, pride, dedication and so many more things. She has made so many friends here along the way. I plan on keeping her thriving here as long as I can. Ms. Donna, Ms. Pat and Ms. Julianna are amazing, as are the teachers she had this year, Ms. Morgan and Ms. Jewel. It's an overall outstanding dance center.
The performances at Baltimore School of the Arts was awesome. A must see show.
My niece and daughter have been attending Zenith for 2 years and am happy with their results. Zenith has not only build dance and tumbling skills but also confidence.

My daughter loves going to dance class on Saturday mornings! This is her second year with the program and we look forward to her continuing to grow with the Carroll School of Dance.
The teachers are awesome, caring, and professional. This environment helps to promote confidence and social skills for my daughter.

I love this school, I go here for lessons and it is a beautiful campus. It is on the smaller side but I think it makes the community feel tighter and everyone is closer together. Also, the concert halls are beautiful

I absolutely love MSDC! I am a (very) beginner adult dancer relatively new to Baltimore and have been attending classes at MSDC for the past 6 months. I have had such a positive experience. The adult ballet classes with Marina are incredible- They are paced perfectly, she gives multiple options for each move for beginners, mid-level, and experienced dancers, and is always providing helpful feedback to each individual. I've also taken the modern class with Algernon a couple times and that is always fun and intense as well.
Also, I am always able to get in contact with MSDC via email or phone as needed. I usually talk to Julianna and she is always helpful. As long as I live in Baltimore, I will continue to come here and I highly recommend it to anyone else who loves to dance!

We love it! We are taking lessons so when we get married it looks decent. We are getting more than what we payed for. They are teaching us a lightly choreographed dance to our wedding song and multiple dance types so we can go dancing more often. We were I’ll call it swaying in the living room before, but now my fiancé is happily showing off his new found knowledge of the waltz and other dances to friends. For a construction worker to be that comfy is saying a lot! We decided to make this our date night and it’s the perfect combo with a good meal and conversation after. Attended a ballet performance with my friend whose great granddaughter was dancing with a group. It was uplifting and engaging performance.

I did a tour this weekend with my daughter and it was fabulous. I was greeted by Mrs. Pat, Mrs. Julianna and Mrs. Donner the school director. The school director is very personable, professional, down to earth and knowledgeable about professional dancing. Everyone including the students were so nice and kind to us. MORTON STREET DANCE CENTER is culturally and racially diverse and They have been around for 30 years. They have some great programs and activities for all ages. They even have summer school and after school programs that you can sign up for right now. Ask for a tour to see if its a good fit for you and your family members.
Morton Street Dance Company has truly shaped our daughter’s technical dancing skills, confidence as a leader and what it means to be a contributor and beneficiary of a community.

My daughter started with Zenith dance school a year ago . She has improved her dance skills and confidence tremendously. Ms.Linda and her staff are very patient and caring . Couldn’t have picked a better dance school for my daughter .

My daughter started at the age of 4, and she has nurtured and expanded her dance/acrobatic skills with the awesome and talented dance instructors at Zenith Dance Rhthyms.
Dancing with Shannon is always fun. She demonstrates movement very powerfully and you will certainly feel the effects the next day as i did :)

Morton Street Dance is a great school. My daughter has thrived over these last 4 years and has grown under their steady leadership, guidance and most importantly love. Ms. Donna and all the teachers at Morton Street are truly the best.

I auditioned this year for dancing and acting sadly I didn't get in...for dancing, but yup you guessed it I got in for Acting. When I got excepted I was so so so happy my whole family was glowing inside out. Anyway I cannot wait to see where BSA takes me, if you think you have talent give it a shot and hey you might not miss. Thank you BSA for giving me a chance, I wont let you down.
I always wanted to learn ballet as a child but never got the opportunity. When I was finally ready to learn, many places did not offer adult ballet. After some thorough research I found this place. I started going two days a week but loved it so much that I am doing three. The instructor is patient and give constructive feedback and very welcoming. No regrets and I also lost 20 pounds.
Both of my daughters have had awesome experiences at Zenith Dance Rhythms. Ms Linda instilles confidence in them both and turned my youngest from a shy little caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly. Zenith is a loving environment mixed with hard work and huge pay offs! I highly recommend for all- you will not be disappointed!💃🏾❤🖤
My daughter loves this dance studio! The teachers are engaging and enthusiastic and provide excellent instruction. My daughter attends three classes a week because she enjoys herself immensely. I've appreciated the precautions taken during Covid because my daughter benefited from the social interaction and with the classes kept small and the mask policy enforced, I felt it was a safe space.
My 5 year old has been attending ballet classes at Hampden Dance Arts for the past year and we LOVE it. Miss Jenn provides a wonderful balance of fun and discipline. Importantly for me, she focuses on learning and enjoyment without any of the toxic negative body image that can come along with dancing. My daughter loves it, we love it, I can't recommend this place enough!

The faculty take time to develop not only a dancers technique and performance ability but also invests time to know and understand who each dancer is. I started ballet as an adult here and I am very thankful that I did. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to newcomers, and allow you to work at your own pace. I could not recommend this studio enough.

I have been attending BSD for years as an adult (beginner) dancer. I love coming to my ballet class and performing in the recitals. The environment here is so welcoming and supportive! Amy structures each lesson so that everyone can participate and feel comfortable - regardless of level, age, or dancing experience. BSD is a wonderful place to add dancing into your life!
My family loves BSD. Both of my children have taken ballet here and have had a fantastic experience. We especially love the recitals. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. The dancers are self motivated and love to help dancers younger than them. Amy has put together a wonderful community of supportive families.

My daughter has been attending CSOD for 3 years now and i cannot tell you how AMAZING this school is. The culture it helps build for young girls is so aspiring. The staff is great. They go above and beyond for each child bringing out their potential and so much more. It’s more than just dance its a family & im thankful for Ms.Macee and her team for what they have done for my child and what they bring to the community. Not to mention each end of year show is such an experience that i feel every young girl should experience .

Jenn is wonderful teacher! She is talented and great with children of all ages. Our daughter was her student for 7 years and loved and could not wait to dance in her classes. Jenn has vision and can create beautiful choreographies in minutes. She is a joy to be around and I highly recommend her for children and adults of all ages!
Class of 2000. Not like any other school in a positive way. You are around teacher who really care about the students academic excellence and gifts they are given in the arts. Once you are in you will understand, but I will say from first hand experience, I am grateful for this place forever

Well I have known Shannon for about 10 or 11yrs. & she is super passionate about her dancing. She lives for it & her students love her alot. At the Harbor location on Howard St. I had the pleasure to freestyle with her to Michael Jackson Style on the 70 ft. historic marble bar in downtown Baltimore. The same one that Fred Astaire danced at the Congress Hotel built-in the 1900's.

I have know shannon13+years when I first took my daughter to sign up for dance at the Essex location at the time.she has always been helpful goes above and beyond to make sure her dancers get the attention they need to succeed at what they want to excel in.my daughter has low self esteem and Shannon always complimented her and workes with her encouraged her and would not let her give up.i would refer her dance studios to anyone wanting a compassionate proffesional instructor to go to Baltimore dance.5 stard for sure.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks for being you shannon.sincerly..becki Wilkinson.

I had the pleasure of training under S Funk in Hip Hop dance; while she was preparing me for my music video Q.U.E.E.N. She created a wonderful piece and choreographed a routine for the second portion of my video. Along with two other great dancers from her organization we were able to pull it off in about 3 1/2 weeks. Though this video only shows a fraction of her work...I learned during my time; that Shannon is a great instructor full of energy and truly dedicated to her craft/projects she commit to.
I’m so glad that my daughter found this studio. Last year was a difficult year for our family, my daughter was dancing at another studio. After her lessons, almost every time she would come home crying. In the fall she found Baltimore School of Dance and now she is more confident and found a group of people that not only teach her how to dance but also give her moral support when she needs it.
I’m grateful to Amy for been there for my daughter and in using positive encouragement when teaching.

This is definitely a studio that I would recommend to others. It is a welcoming environment, especially for a beginner adult student, like myself and I look forward to taking Fouettes in February, the new workshop!
My time here was excellent. It's a very beautiful Campus located in the heart of Baltimore City. My child is in one of the vocal choirs here and they're having a performance in the concert hall during the Christmas season 2018. The only thing I can tell you should be aware of is the parking is limited inside the garage. You have to park and leave your keys with the attendant for some of the spots so be aware of that. There is handicap parking.
As a professional dancer as a child in the PA Ballet and dancing throughout college, I was looking for a studio that is supportive and welcoming, while also being a fun environment. Baltimore School of Dance has allowed me to perform again and finally take class again. BSD has also allowed me to spread my love of dance with the youth by teaching, as well. Amy, the owner, is an excellent role model, caring, and a wonderful teacher and boss. Definitely worth trying some classes!!
Wonderful and helpful faculty. The architecture is marvelous especially the George Peabody Library. Peabody has a wide variety of dance and music classes from young beginners to adults. I have been a student of the preparatory for over 8 years. I enjoyed my experience.
This studio has the most amazing teachers and community! The technique programs are world class, and my daughter is growing into a "real" dancer. They specialize in form and performance which, in my opinion, is why almost all of the studio's dancers that audition for TWIGS at Baltimore School for Arts get in. IPA is a great place for any child that loves dance to learn and grow!
My daughter was going there for camp in summer 2016 and for classes during fall and spring year of 2016/17. It was a great experience and the teachers were great! It's for beginners and advance students. I wish it was something like this when I was little. I only gave it 4 stars because my boyfriend ordered a winter dance DVD (when our daughter performed) back in December 2016 and we never received it. I wrote them and they said it will be available in Feb. 17'. Time went on then and still no DVD. Tried to contact them but was no response. Even left a voice message. Oh well.

I am super pleased with my daughters attendance at the Carroll School of Dance. My daughter is always included, she has made a great amount of friends, the dance instructors are friendly and communicate with parents effectively and clearly. There's even a mobile app! This has become a wonderful community to be a part of.
Inertia is awesome! My daughter was with the studio for almost 10years. Because of the technique she was taught she was accepted into the BSA twiggs and then attended Baltimore county center for the arts. She is a fabulous dancer and choreographer!

The second installment of this line of dance studios to hit Baltimore! The salsa and bachata and social dance classes here are on point! If you're looking for a challenging but also fun and non-intimidating environment this is the place! The owner has had years of experience in their first location to make this place become a great Dance Staple in the community. She also has brought in outside independent dance programs and contractors to run their classes that are top-notch and out of this world! If you're looking for the social dancing... Try Sentimiento Dance Company -They've got an amazing team that runs the social dance classes. If you're looking for dance fitness they've got great instructors that run the dance fitness side... check out the MOVEZ team and dance workouts! This is definitely what rec centers and Community Center should be doing - finding phenomenal standout quality programs and offering it to the community! and it's all in a fun relaxed atmosphere while trying to offer lots of different programs. There's a reason they've been in business so long!

I've been going to Arthur Murray Dance in Baltimore for about 8 months and have had nothing but positive experiences since I joined. Arthur Murray has helped me immensely when it comes to feeling confident when dancing and would recommend their studio to anyone interested in learning dance. They offer a wide variety of dance styles, so there is something for everyone. All of the teachers there have been professional but personable. Tiffanie, my personal instructor, has been incredible. Her ability to balance critiquing without criticizing has been huge, especially for someone like me who feels self-conscious when dancing. Our lessons always are a ton of fun and take place in a very relaxed environment. Their have group parties on Fridays that always get a good turnout and gives you a chance to meet some of the other students as well as dance with other instructors. This is very helpful as it allows you to get another professional's perspective and a chance to learn something in a different way than your instructor may explain it as well as get to know the other students there. Arthur Murray is a quality dance studio and would recommend to anyone looking to learn dance in a fun, upbeat environment.
The dancers are very well trained and were both patient and supportive with me. I gained a better understanding for the varieties of styles of dancing and was able to select the ones that I wanted to focus on. They also include multiple avenues to socialize, debut and practice my skills weekly. The cost is steep but you definitely get what you are paying for! I could actually pass for a formally trained ballroom dancer now...not a professional yet though...Lol
The lead instructor was great. My husband and I needed a lesson before our wedding and since we hadn't taken lessons in years, he provided us some basic steps and really put us at ease with doing our "First Dance" at our wedding. It turned out so well and we received a lot of compliments on how natural we looked. Since we usually looked very much beginners when we did ballroom dancing previously, we give our instructor a lot of credit for providing us with good instructions and making it fun too. We truly enjoyed our First Dance. Plus, the place is really nice and clean with parking available and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I like Baltimore school for the arts because a lot of great people go their to. In I got approved to be at the school for the arts.My school is around the corner from and that is great for me.
