We stopped at African BBQ House for the first time.

We ordered the half-chicken combo platter to share with my daughter and I. We loved it but next time, I will try the chicken with African spicy.

We ordered the chicken meal 1 (the full grilled chicken ) it was delicious.
We are from Pakistan and love spices and we loved it ..
Serving size is great , We ate to our full still half of it is left to enjoy for next day …
They don’t have a lot of sitting area but since we ordered way before they reserved a table for us …which we really appreciate …
The staff is very friendly too…

We will be coming back So definitely recommend this place !!

I'm the foreman at a site nearby, and I decided to give this place a try a few weeks back. The BBQ chicken this place serves, is the truth. The flavour is immaculate. The spices are in perfect balance with the universe. Eating it was like the first time I heard Led Zeppelin. I wanted to save some for lunch tomorrow, but I'm really struggling right now, I don't think I'm strong enough to resist eating it all tonight.
My mother, my daughter and I ordered food here...it was my daughter's choice because it was her birthday. The service was outstanding, and the food was absolutely delicious! We had never had this kind of food before...but we'll be ordering it again! The staff was so friendly, too! (Apparently, my mother seems to have developed a love of fried plantains!)
This was our first time ordering. We ordered two family platters for the variety and everything was delicious. The flavour was amazing, the chicken was juicy, the rice dish was perfect.
We'll be ordering from here again.

Oh, and the owners are super nice and provide friendly service. This place is worth supporting.
Very good food and service. I had the Assorted combo with chicken and beef suya, Jollof rice and a drink. Everything was perfect. Although the wait was really long. But it was worth it. 👍👍👍

I didn't listen and I paid for it. Biggest waste of money. $14 for one drumstick. They didn't even have the decency to throw in some rice in there. No AC in there and its about 30 degrees in there. Also not sure why they have someone who doesn't speak English manning the phone and front desk. Go to the Indian place next door.

I do not know who gave you 4 stars but this is terrible. The food is revolting. I ordered a large fish. They sent me something soggy as though it has been boiled. It looks boiled. Vey messy. This is not even a large fish. Nothing on the side, not even salad. All for $38? Even for $7 I wouldn't order from this place ever again. Absolutely horrendous. See photos and judge for yourself.

This is really just a place for picking up. Tried it for the first time today. We went to pick up at the designated time after ordering it online. We had to wait another 20 minutes. Food is good and we will definitely be back. But I highly recommend ordering ahead.
We got the family meal and there was a lot of food.

Scam. Tell me how this amounts to a “whole chicken”. Maybe if the chicken was hit by a car and only had half of its body remaining.
They just placed the chicken on a bed of rice to hide the fact there was 5 bites of chicken (when you consider the bones). Sad because the flavour is actually good.

I ordered half BBQ chicken which was fine, but the BBQ Ceasar salad & jalapeño poppers went into the garbage.
Completely inedible... Would recommend taking them off your menu.
First got the egusi soup with pounded yam. I was disappointed. Why were the spices missing from the soup??? Not good. But the jollof rice ehn? I got the beef suya combo. The jollof rice mad die. The meat 🤌🏾🤌🏾. You guys should have seasoned the soup the way you seasoned the jollof. Keep up the good job.
Lovely ambience and food! Will definitely visit again. We ordered the mixed platters with goat and beef and the chicken platter. They came with jollof rice, plantains and salad.
The food was tasty and we were able to satisfy the cravings for Nigerian food we had been having for a while.

The Egusi and pounded yam were amazing, and the music tracks playing whilst we were eating them made the experience even more enjoyable.

What could be improved was the selection of drinks, there weren't many to choose from, and others were in the menu, but out of stock.

We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the exquisite artifacts in some corners of the restaurant, that reminded us of the richness of the culture of the old African continent.

Regarding entertainment, it wasn't really necessary, but it would have been nice to have something playing in the tv sets whilst having dinner (instead of the Roku wallpapers), preferably Nigerian content. This wasn't a must, but it would have created a more "immersive" experience, if we may say so.

At last, the place could benefit from a deep cleaning service (white chairs, curtains, and baseboard in the restaurant, and restrooms in the basement).
Very tasty! Wish the large size suya combo was bigger as I wanted to keep eating more. Overall, very happy with the food. Tastes great! Shop owner I think let me try some egusi soup as well. Very good!
The chicken was not awful - very dry but decent with their hot sauce. The jollof was inedible. It must have been old or spoiled or something because the rice smelled and tasted like a barn.
Even though YKO has long waits, anyone would be better off going there.
The manager and waiters were very friendly and professional. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The jollof rice was well-cooked and tasted just right. The goat meat was very tender and had just the right amount of spices. Most importantly it tasted fresh. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic Nigerian food.
Finally, after a year of living down the road from African BBQ House I finally gave them a try. So good I had the Lamb Skewers Plate; 2 Skewers of Lamb served with Jollof rice, chef salad, and plantains. Was impressed with all the flavours and the portion was perfect. I suggest giving them a try if you haven’t.

Dinned in here with my colleagues, and decided to not visit this restaurant ever again! We preordered the food (30 minutes in advance) but still it took them 40 minutes to prepare our orders (not even all of them). The price they had on their website and menue wasn’t updated. The portion wasn’t convenient for the prices that they’ve asked for. Restaurant wasn’t very clean and tbh, the food wasn’t authentic at all. The staff was offended after hearing our comments about price and quality of food.

This place is receiving unfair reviews. Took the chance on it last night and boy oh boy were we glad. The food was INCREDIBLEY flavourful. Like wow every bite lit up our taste buds and left us hankering for more. The fried plantains were top notch. The djollof rice was quite nice. The half chicken was unbelievable. The veggie samosas, they tasted different but the spices and flavours were out of this world delicious. The dough was a tad chewy but didn't ruin the experience by any means. Flavour is king. I chop the texture up to being delivered and not fresh in restaurant. The Jamaican patties were a nice cheap add on. Let me tell you the value for your money is fantastic. Incredibly delicious food. Super flavourful and very well priced. Highly recommend. This has just become our go to takeout place for sure! Can't wait to try more food!
A very delicious meal with good portion of meat🤩 Deserves a second turn. Oh! And the inside of the restaurant is really impressive. They are probably going to be having a live band or something. You will have a great sense of Home when here. The customer experience was great too

BBQ Golden Grill is one of the best African restaurants in Ottawa. Their charcoal BBQ chicken is amazing and their goat is really good too. Very flavourful and tasty in generous portions while reasonably priced. Martha the owner of the restaurant was so accommodating and nice. I recommend it without hesitation.
This place is amazing! My parents and I ordered two goat and chicken platters (included rice, plantain and coleslaw) as well as Egusi soup (included pounded yam). I mean what can we say? Mouth watering and flavourful! I could eat this anyday anytime - soooo good! Thank you for adding a little extra too!

Welcome to the neighborhood and wishing you continued success with your business!

Ps: my mom even called the restaurant and spoke with the owner to rant and rave about the food LOL!

Really disappointed by their sizes we chose the 48$ Meal for the 6 person that included 2 whole chicken , 2 sides and 2 salade. We ordered it on UberEats not only did it forced us to add 2 salades for 2.99$ each so on the end the 48$ meal for 6 ended up being 53$ something no tax. Then the food came the sides were ridiculously small like how is this a 6 person meal we chose the Haitian rice and bean and French fries the sizes were the same sizes they serve you for 1 person like come on !
