The food was just average at best and on the pricey side for the location and atmosphere. The chicken didn't have much flavor while the empanadas were decent. The food court/cafeteria setting just makes it hard to spend that much on food.

Andes Cafe was delicious and certainly made me feel as though I was in South America. The prices are a little high and with plentiful other options, if you’re willing to pay, this is a great spot for some South American flavors!

I went with my family hoping to try Ecuadorian food.
The customer service was okay, but the beef and potato empanadas were hot on the outside, the beef was cold on the inside.
The corn Patties w cheese (arepitas) are nothing like authentic arepas, super hard and hard to chew, the smashed green plantain (tostones) were very greasy.
We ordered roasted pork leg (hornado) but the pork did not have flavor. It was not what we expected 😓.
The only thing I liked was the stir fry- beef (lomo saltado) from Peru and the chicha morada. In addition, we had a reservation for 9pm but we didn't have time to eat in peace since they closed at 10 pm and at 9:45 pm they were already in a hurry saving everything and giving us the bill.

The gentleman taking my order slyly blew through the tipping screen as fast as he could, providing for himself a maximum tip% assuming I wasn't paying attention. This is not a full service establishment and does not warrant 20% or more tip without providing any service as of yet. Should amazing service be provided, I will consider a tip after my meal, but not on the outset for simply selecting buttons to place my order to the kitchen. Removing two stars due to deceitful service.
Beyond this my experience was very good. The food was delicious.

I am super stoked to have found this small yet flavorful place! I love Peruvian food, especially the ceviche. We ordered everything from the tequenos, empanadas, ceviche mixto, and the Lomo saltado. First off, the empanadas were full of beef and juicy. I have had empanadas at other placed where they skimp out on the beef and stuff more potatoe than anything-this was not the case. The Ceviche was finger licking good. Lastly, the Lomo was so soft and tender. Very impressed with the amount of flavor they packed onto each plate. I wish I would have gotten dessert but honestly, I was stuffed.. Guess now I have another reason to come back. Try them out! Also be patient, they were super busy but worth the wait.

“Simply Delicious”… True gourmet sea food… Mixtures of techniques and flavors, cultural aromas of preparation with products that take you on a journey to the depths of feeling and enjoying what you see and eat prepared in front of you, with the energy of the Chef transmitted with experience and culinary talent, fresh multicultural to your palate. Excellent price-quality ratio for this secret Ceviche Bar, inserted in the center of the Houston Downtown. Its strategic location within this bustling and saturated urban space, protects the harmony and the environment to taste without problems the modern marine environment of the place. The select wine very agreed to enjoy without invading or removing prominence when feeling the taste of the sea. Beautiful decorative cultural details accompany you enhancing your comfort, giving elegance to the restaurant.
The seriousness and professionalism to reserve allow real beginners to select and filter what they really want to enjoy. As a Gourmet from the country with the longest Pacific coasts in the world and great abundance or variety of seafood, I recommend this place 100%.

This is our second visit to Andy’s café. We made a reservation because we wanted to try the “ceviche bar.” The food tasted good, but the ambience and service were terrible. First, this is not a ceviche bar. Food bars are where you actually interact with or at least can see the food during its preparation. This is simply sitting uncomfortably at a hemmed in counter with the food apparently prepared in the kitchen and plated on the other side of the counter, which we couldn’t see. The Ecuadorian decorations were nice, but really the only thing of interest at our seats. Sitting in a row like that with a solid counter in front of you is uncomfortable for a party of three and there is simply no reason why this could not have been served at a table. So we were disappointed from the start. Then, the advice on food quantity that was provided while we were ordering was simply inaccurate. The appetizer was entrée size and should have been shared among the three of us. We were advised that it was small and individual. That led to wasted food since we each ordered a full appetizer and entree ceviches as required for ceviche bar reservations. The ceviche itself and the appetizer were quite tasty although I had one bite of something crunchy that tasted off. The food wait is long, which would’ve been fine in a better setting, but the server failed to provide our beer and wine for the lengthy wait for the appetizers. We finally reminded her and she brought the order, but had missed one of two glasses of wine. This was very clearly ordered so I’m not sure what the problem was. The wine pours are very small when compared to other restaurants. I am not sure it was even 4 ounces. The entrées were not serve together. Again we understand they were freshly prepared and had to be prepared one at a time, but it is awkward when you’re a party of three and your food comes out at vastly different times, particularly when you are sitting at a metal counter and all you can do is stare at the counter or stare at your food. We all found the ceviche excellent. Given the small space at the counter, it was unfortunate that the appetizer dishes which had been pushed to the side were never cleared. It’s unappetizing to have dirty plates sitting there and it took up space.
I should note that there were only one or two tables filled and a couple of walk up orders so the restaurant was not busy. One server should have been able to handle things better. Finally, we ordered the alfajores to take with us. This restaurant needs to find a better way to pack alfajores than an over-sized plastic box.
I went with three stars because we loved the Andes café of old in EaDo and are sad that our two visits to the new location have been less than stellar.
We gave it an excellent rating the first time we were there, even though the service was a little off. But this was our second visit, and we tried the ceviche bar, and it was very disappointing.

For me, food isn't just about nourishing myself with energy, but it's also about the experience! I think the ceviche bar at Andes Cafe was an experience. Located at The Post in Houston, they have a nice, cozy restaurant open in the corner of the food court.
I ordered the Ceviche Mixto which had calamari, octopus, fish, sweet potato, and other delicious ingredients which gave it a nice, tangy blend of textures and flavors. Sitting at the bar, you can see the chefs going to work in front of you as they prepare the meal. They also give a complimentary, bite-sized sample which was a nice touch. My meal tasted fresh and exotic, comparable to some of the great ceviche meals I had in Miami.
On top of the that, the staff was friendly and receptive to my questions. The chef was very passionate and competent, given his history with cooking. Overall, definitely looking forward to coming back and trying some of their new foods that they are coming out with too.
