I started coming to CrossFit Bethesda to work with weights to improve my bone density. After years of hearing how I should take more calcium and begin thinking about other interventions, my doctor called me to say my latest test results were “Great – keep doing what you are doing”. I now do CrossFit because I love it not because I am afraid of osteoporosis. Thank you, Ray, and everyone at CrossFit who has been encouraging me to do more.

Great coaches, fun workouts, friendly vibe, awesome playlists! The box is truly inclusive to a wide range of ages and fitness levels. You won’t be bored, as there is a great variety of workouts. Dog friendly 🐶

In my 8th year at CrossFit Bethesda (CFB) and this gym is my second home. It does not get better than this. CFB has knowledgable, world class trainers and workouts that are challenging, but achievable for every fitness level. They will get you in shape and help you achieve your fitness goals.The community is tight-knit and supportive. If you're thinking about it, DO IT!!

I first want to say that this review does not reflect on the many excellent trainers who rent this space and are responsive and talented. It only reflects on the owner and manager of this gym and their lack of clear policies and terrible communication.
The facility is poorly maintained. A huge hole in the women's bathroom wall has been there for a year. There are no rules about wiping mats or machines after use, and I have repeatedly seen trainers and clients pick up mats they just sweated on and put them back on "the pile." Finally, there are often so many people jammed in that it is an obstacle course of weights, balls, and benches to work around.
Second, when I started there using a Groupon, there was no "orientation" or contract discussion. I had to ultimately ask my trainer if I was supposed to be paying him directly or paying the gym. (He suggested I pay him). The engagement was completely unclear and nobody from management EVER spoke to me. In fact, the owner did not address me (not a "hello") in the ~8 months I worked out there.
Which brings me to my final issue - there was a big disconnect/miscommunication about "whose client I am" that led to them telling me that my trainer of choice could not train me. Despite the fact that I had no contract with the company, they accused the trainer of trying to poach me from them. Fine. You have unclear policies. But after receiving this news from the owner, I tried to reach him four times via email and text to try to work something out. I never once received a response. So I tried his sidekick - the so-called manager. Same result. No response.
As an aside, I do know that the owner is consistently absent and either terribly late or a no-show for his own clients. There is clearly something not right there.

Training Ground is well-equipped for a variety of fitness goals and client types. Their fitness equipment and training space is well-maintained and clean. Their personalized fitness plans are dynamic and thoughtful, and trainers explain how each exercise helps your body, while also correcting form and offering encouragement. My own trainer, Josue, and every other trainer I observed were motivating and kind, and they always brought positive energy to the space. I would highly recommend TG for a beginner wanting to learn how to workout, and for an advanced client with specific fitness goals!

I’ve really enjoyed working at Training Ground. They are invested in helping you reach your fitness goals, whatever they may be, and the atmosphere in the gym is always positive. I’ve been very happy with my trainer, Alice, who is very supportive and encouraging. She’s unfailingly positive - which is a big help on those days you’re just not in the mood to work out - listens to feedback, and is creative with the workouts. She’s also always ready to modify exercises as needed. It’s been a pleasure working with her at Training Ground.

I love working out at TG Bethesda, especially with trainer Alice! It’s a great alternative to a typical gym (not my thing), and having someone there to guide us and tailor workouts to my personal fitness goals is such an effective use of time! I’ve become so much stronger and well-rounded as a dancer thanks to cross-training with Alice, and the value for partner training and getting to work out at Training Ground’s well-stocked and maintained facility is something I look forward to every week! I can’t recommend Alice as a trainer enough, either: she is patient, positive, and thoughtful, and has made working out fun *and* effective!

My partner and I have been training with Hillary for several years, and have seen significant improvements to our strength, flexibility and overall health. Hillary does a great job of ensuring each workout is challenging and varied. She is a phenomenal trainer, and I would highly recommend her and Training Ground to anyone looking to improve their health and fitness.

I have 2 fabulous trainers - Hillary on Monday is amazing! Her knowledge and ability to improve my strength while being mindful of keeping me safe. Alice is a terrific trainer on Fridays. My endurance and stamina have improved greatly under her guidance! I am incredibly grateful to both women and the supportive environment at Training Ground

I started training here a month ago and I can confidently say it is the best training I have received. The facility is amazing and my trainer, Teddy, is exceptionally knowledgable and puts together curated workouts for each of our sessions to progressively and safely work towards my goals. I highly recommend Training Ground to anyone who is trying to get leaner, healthier, or stronger.

Training Ground is a great place for anyone looking to work with a great personal trainer. They do a great job pairing you with one of their many trainers based on your goals and personality. The person they paired me with (Teddy) was a perfect match for me. And since it is a facility just for trainers and their clients, it’s never crowded and you don’t have to deal with annoying gym people who are discourteous or rude. All the trainers who work there put stuff away, wipe things down, share the space, etc. I did a lot of research before selecting a trainer, and I have no regrets going with Training Ground. Highly recommend.

What a great gym filled with great people! I was in DC for three weeks for work and needed a gym. From the get-go their staff was very polite and welcoming, as well as flexible and understanding of my circumstances. Then, upon going to the gym for those three weeks, everyone of the coaches and members were so welcoming and polite! For example, there's always that awkward new-person where are things and I don't want to get in the way energy, and yet as I moved through the gym I was met with smiles, encouragements, and patience as they explained where things were, where to set-up, and motivation to work-out. For what it's worth - a loud THANK YOU to everyone at the gym and a strong recommendation for anyone in their area.

I started personal training at Training Ground and its one of the best decisions I've made. Brandon is an incredible trainer who offers a very personalized approach, customizing our workouts to meet my goals. He's great at pushing me further while keeping goals realistic, so I constantly feel like I'm making progress. Its great to have a dedicated space for training, and there's lots of good equipment and all the trainers seem to be great at their jobs for all levels of fitness. Highly recommend!

One of the best CrossFit gyms in the country. (I have been to a bunch when I travel for work) You are taught by athletes who actually compete in the games! They care about warm up and form as much as pushing you to be your best. I am happy to be a part of the community.

My biggest worry with CrossFit is the injuries you hear about. I was skeptical but once I joined I knew immediately that the coaches were serious about the long term health and not the fatigue seeking stories you come across.
A typical class will have you stretch for 10 minutes and then have guided sessions for the next. whether you are jacked and ripped or just beginning the coaches scale everything to your needs and help where needed.

Awesome atmosphere and amazing coaches. They are all friendly, knowledgeable, and great for whatever type of feedback you need. The CFB community is very welcoming and supportive as well. Its a good mix of serious competitors as well as many just looking to get/stay in shape.

I’m new to personal training and am thrilled with my experience at Fitness Together at this point. What a difference between FT and the standard big box gym! FT offers great trainers with an approach focused on me and my goals, an intimate workout setting and top notch equipment.

My experience with FT has been excellent. I signed up about a month before COVID hit hard. FT's team adapted, providing virtual workouts and nutrition counseling, and being incredibly responsive as we all find our way through constantly changing home/work demands. Highly, highly recommend.

Everyone at this studio is top notch. Every single one. I’ve worked with Mark, Sam, Ryan, Sean and Rachel - all of the FT trainers have degrees related to fitness and they all know how to motivate you to do better and push you at every session without the boot camp style yelling. The owner, Robin, makes you feel like she is truly invested in you as a person and not just a customer. I’m grateful to have found FT.

I have been a client at Fitness Together since May 2019 and highly recommend this company and location. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and will help you achieve your personal goals. I go there once a week for 45 minutes and I have had experience with 3 of the trainers there. They have a specific program for me based on my needs for strength training, balance etc.. What I really like is that they will modify an exercise if I don't feel comfortable doing it and they are always "checking in with me to see if the weight is acceptable" and if I have a limitation etc... This is very important so I don't injure myself. I like the routine sets and the trainers explain what muscles are being targeted and the goals of the exercises. The best part is at the end of the session when they stretch your legs, back and arms.

Great atmosphere to get in amazing shape! Everyone is so helpful and really invested in the clients and their individual goals. It’s like the “Cheers” of gyms...where everyone knows your name and is happy that you came. Always positive vibes and no guilting or shaming. I am in better shape after 7 months here than I have been since my college years (and that was a long time ago). I love working out again and I look forward to every session! I work out with Ryan consistently and he’s absolutely outstanding!

FT Bethesda is awesome. My trainers, Lizzie and Mark, are highly skilled and very personable. They push hard but not too hard, and are always mindful of my various injuries and infirmities. I have been a client of FT for a long time and I've never had better trainers. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the people are very nice. Great place!

I came to FITology wanting to tone up and add a little muscle while reducing my body fat percentage. Nick helped reduce my body fat from 18% to 12% while adding a little muscle. I now look and feel so much better about my body! Nick carefully listens to you and then creates an exercise regimen along with a customized meal plan for you and coaches you every step of the way. I highly recommend FITology to anyone looking for a trainer, nutritionist, or a coach in the area!

FT is full of caring, qualified and quality people. They have helped me get healthy and stronger. Each session is crafted for me and enjoyable. Yes, the gym can be enjoyable. I work with Lizzie the most and we have great chemistry. She asks questions and talks me through any issues I may be having. Robin and her staff are excellent trainers!!!

I have a fantastic trainer in Okinyi Ayungo. Unlike a gym where there could be hundreds of people, this facility feels cozy and comfortable and you will definitely get personal attention there. If you go there forgetting your shorts you can even borrow a clean pair of shorts from them. That's the level of personal services.

Nick is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about fitness. My last gym's owner was a fat motorcycle driver and it showed in how he ran his business. Nick has all of the tools and will drive you to finally make fitness a priority in your life.
The place looks and smells great, very few gyms put so much effort into the design. It's also a great location. Keep it up Nick!
