Always love it here. We have been coming to Whinfell for 10 years now. Never disappoints
We've been coming to Whinfell for 8yrs and we love it. Being in the forest is lovely, we love Squirrell spotting, there are great players for the kids we'd usually be swimming everyday (not this year because of Covid restrictions) but it's not stopped us from doing heaps of other stuff! We always look forward to our Centre Parcs holidays. Would love to try the new high-wire trail but no times suitable for this year so hopefully next year!
Totally enjoyed our weekend break here. Gave 4 stars as the bath drain was blocked and the TV had gone from colour to black and white. Restaurants were good. Friendly staff in all the shops and restaurants. Didn’t realise the shop on site was a Co-Op until last day.

Lovely forest walks and great lodge with indoor sauna
Have been lucky to stay here about 12 times over a 20 year period. Went back in 2018 for the first time and the resort has improved.
Would recommend going in the off season when there are fewer people and you can save a small fortune in those off peak times.
The lodges are being updated frequently and there is a reasonable choice if cafes and restaurants on site.

Can't fault the site - saw red squirrels and even a stoat! Amenities were fine. Supermarket was absolutely extortionate! Everything was literally TWICE AS EXPENSIVE as anywhere else!!!!. If you go here, buy ALL of your provisions BEFORE you leave home. Also, the activities are fantastically expensive - no doubt due to the fact that the parents will eventually give in to their pleading children .. check out prices of things to do BEORE you book...

I’ve read a ton of reviews that regard it overpriced. So let’s handle that first... In terms of the cost of accommodation, if you go off peak (which I’m fortunate enough to be able to do with pre school children) it’s not significantly more expensive than other independent parks for the basic accommodation.
However, with the extensive list of activities you’ll want to budget for the children taking part.
Similarly, food and drink on site is definitely at the higher end of the price scale.
Expect to spend more than you would on a holiday as a small independent park.
BUT - both times we have been we upgraded our lodge to a new style executive (additional £80 for the 4 night stay). And the accommodation has been outstanding.
There’s so much for the kids to do even outside of activities. So while we took part typically in one activity a day, our boys enjoyed the swimming complex just as much (free for guests) and wandering around the forest.
The forest is beautiful and there’s plenty to keep children occupied.
Our most recent visit was November 2017 for the winter wonderland and this was just brilliant. The “Christmas village,” setup in the park is gorgeous and our toddler loved seeing the elves, the fake snow and the reindeer.
A holiday here is what you make it. For me, I’d like to see them allow supermarket deliveries in on arrival day. Trying to squeeze a supermarket shop into a packed car doesn’t work for us. And then once you’re on site you’re restricted to the park market.
But all in all, a super place to spend time with family.
