Went to see an archive of a person's genealogy I was researching for a book. The staff were very helpful in explaining the procedures for viewing the archive and it was a very quick process from walking in the door to getting my hands on the documents I wanted to see. I didn't get through all the documents in the box, so I'll probably end up returning and I look forward to my visit

The city is a mixture of some very fine historic architecture - but also ones that have been replaced by modern buildings. We need to protect our historical buildings with care.

The Historical Society of PA is beautiful and was the perfect setting for our Lehigh University Alumni event with the Dean of our Health College. From the convenient parking across the street to the beautiful reception and presentation areas, it was an unexpected gem! The food was also delicious and the staff couldn't have been any more accommodating and pleasant throughout the planning process and event itself. We will definitely use this venue again for future Lehigh University Alumni events. A special shout out to Cait for all her help in making our event the best it could be! Thank you to all involved.

Excellent research depository for real time history of early american germantown. Surprised to discover old telephone directory from 1870+ (prior to telephones)
Great exhibits and pristine environment

These hours are not accurate this place is essentially closed. If you’re driving from out of town - save the time and money.

Very helpful staff.

I went to see what was inside the Germantown Historical Society building. It was small but full of interesting and historical stuff. I got to meet the owner of the building today. He was so nice! He asked me if I had any questions and would check on me every few minutes while I looked around. I asked him some really good questions. There was one question that he could not answer though which was ok since no one else probably knew. Anyways, before I left the building, I was interested in buying a book about Germantown. I was at least a dollar short. But the owner decided to just let me have the book while he had the rest of my money. The book that I got costed $20.00. I thought what the owner did was so cool and so nice, I was surprised. So I thanked the guy and left the building. If you have time around Tuesdays or Thursdays, I would recommend to go there.

It was an amazing experience... I loved it...we really need to get back to our roots, learn more about our ancestors and the terrible hardships they had to endure through slavery... I am definitely going back and I will be taking my kids next time. They need to hear about slavery.

I have seen many fine historical structures in this city get demolished in a very short time period, often as a result of this foolish real estate market. They aren't doing their job.

It's a very extensive library, well laid out and inclusive. It's a favorite.

We have so much unknown historical things that really needs investigation and awareness...Why Philadelphia story is a very detail of legacies and it can be a future of a brotherhood and sisterhood..bring great and small things together...brotherly love...Peace and Respect..

I am excited for the new opportunity and personal touch of the exhibit. I didn't know what to expect but I'm inspired by their mission to tell their story and experience. Celebrating 400 years of resilience and strength of our heritage being brought over to a foreign land . Thank you for your passion and diligence sharing your story.

Quite an interesting place a little off the beaten track but well worth a visit. This is mandatory if you want to learn about this historic area of Philadelphia. Strongly recommended.

I visited three of the sixteen Germantown Historical Houses in the past. I found them to be quaint and charming (a gem in the 'hood). The staff is warm and knowledgeable. If you have children and or friend (s) visiting, Historic Germantown has something for them: Hands-on Art Activity/music/plays/home restoration classes/festivals...free or for a small fee without a membership. If you decide to buy a membership, visit their site to read what it includes.

This is an interesting place to visit. On my last visit I saw copies of the Bill of Rights. Visitors were also able to see the archives which are not usually open to the public. A person can access information about the Civil War the Civil Rights movement women in Philadelphia Jews in Philadelphia, among other topics.
