My 9 year old attended 2 camps over MEA break. Each one was well planned and run. The excitement from the staff is contagious. The Bruentrup Heritage Farm is a beautiful setting for the kids! Can’t wait to check out future events for kids and the family!
We had our wedding reception at Maplewood Area Historical Society and we cannot recommend it enough. It was an incredible venue and it made our reception a magical experience. Amy P and TJ were so incredibly helpful leading up to the event and the day of the event. They thought of everything and all of the details and really helped the entire event run smoothly. We had access to all areas of the farm for our reception and it felt just like we wanted it to: like a family picnic. We had space for lots of yard games for kids and adults, there was a lot of space for people to mingle outside and the barn was perfect for dinner and dancing. We received many, many compliments throughout the night about how beautiful the venue is. Our reception was on an incredibly hot day and we had access to the farm house that was air conditioned which was amazing. We were able to bring in/cater our own food and Amy recommended a bartending service that was perfect for our event. It was super helpful to be able to drop off a lot of the food and decor items the night before and Amy met with us briefly the day before to go through last minute questions and information. There was adequate parking for what we needed. Don't sleep on this amazing venue for large or small parties!
I have attended two recent events at MAHS/the Bruentrup Heritage Farm - the 80s Prom and the Big Red Barn Farmers Market - both events were a BLAST!

I couldn't believe the level of detail that went into 80s Prom. There was an exhibit featuring photos from 1980s proms at area high school, a silent auction with themed items, themed snacks, a photo booth with props, and tons of decorations. The music was fantastic and my husband and I danced the entire night! The organizers really thought of everything to make it fun, unique and entertaining all evening long, and it was a very welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The Big Red Barn Farmers Market had an excellent variety of vendors, and I noticed that there were no duplicate vendors - so one jam vendor, a meat vendor, a chocolate vendor, one large tent for veggies, etc. - so it wasn't like other farmers markets where you feel awkward choosing one vendor over another, knowing they're all competing. I really appreciated that and got some tasty products for a good price! The barn and exhibit spaces were also open during the market, which was a nice benefit for attendees. MAHS has a phenomenal exhibit about 3M with great images, artifacts, and thoughtfully done text and design.

The entire property has a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. And the flowers are absolutely gorgeous! If you haven't been - do yourself a favor and plan a visit. You'll enjoy taking a deep breath in a pastoral atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city!
What an incredible place - a true gem for this city and our neighborhood. It’s amazing to see the farm to table day camps, farmers market, and other quaint community events! You should be SO proud! What a wonderful legacy! Keep up the fantastic work going on there! You’re on the right track for building back real community❣️
Us ladies had so much fun here at the Maplewood Historical Society for their 80s Prom Event! Some of us girls were living prom for the first time. We got ready together at one place and showed up as a squad!! A real blast from the past and an amazing set of hosts set the night on fire! Thanks for a totally awesome night! Rock on!!
Awesome!! People, the land, the "big red barn".... My daughter and I will be back for the ice cream, more salsa, and when finances allow, we will return for a ⅛ of a cow!!

The squared dancing tutorial was epic, and the history walkthrough in the basement was very intriguing!
First Farmer's Market on June 5th was awesome. Glad we could be a part of it.
This place has a beautiful senary for a wedding night. I was surprised to hear the barn was relocated from another location. The hay rides kept the children busy and the open bar kept the adults busy. I would definitely return for another night of fun with close friends. Make sure you follow their instructions on parking. If you are coming from the West, it's the second right turn. There is overflow parking in the far left (southeast) corner of the property.
