A small group of 4 of us took a slow 2-hour walking ride with a pair of awesome guides (👍Melinda & Adam👍) on a warm October day. None of us had much riding experience, but they accommodated us with appropriate mounts and were super helpful throughout the ride.

The horses were your typical auto-pilot trail-riders; manageable but a bit resistant to direction. My steed, "Nine," the most ornery of the bunch, liked to cop an attitude whenever my idea of the path and his were in conflict. I'd often have to pull his whole head around to make a slight course adjustment. Granted, my experience is limited, but I've had horses where a little bit of rein-slack against one side of their neck was all it took to make an obliging correction. Of course, I was giving the poor beast unintended mixed signals the whole time, so his over-all patience with me was laudable and I refuse to deduct any points for my own lack of horse-sense. ☺️

Melinda (hope I’m spelling her name right) was absolutely the best guide! Always trust your guide and I did the entire time. She paired me with a horse that relates with my energy and skill level aka how good of a rider I am. Mel was confident in me, which made me confident in myself! I used to ride as a kid but I’m almost 30 years old, it’s been a while. The two hour ride was absolutely perfect. The horses are so chill. They are great listeners and follow the pack! You don’t have to worry about a horse going in a different direction because they seamlessly follow one another! I saw an old review that mentioned logging and I want to assure everyone; we didn’t have that issue. It was the perfect trail! It’s truly such a wonderful experience. I recommend making a reservation over the phone and going asap because there’s nothing better than being in nature, with friends, and horses on a gorgeous day in Vermont.

First time in years getting on a horse, and I surprised my fiance with this little trip for his birthday. We had an awesome guide she was super nice and the horses were very well behaved!

My husband and I went for a trail ride here in fall. We are both experienced riders and said this, but were put on older horses much more fit for children. Although we were told the two hour ride would be better, we had limited time so chose the one hour. We didn't expect that this meant at least half of the ride would be on the side of the paved road. Maybe better place for children and unexperienced riders, but a bit disappointing for us.

I highly recommend booking an excursion here and if Tom is available, ask for him. I was slightly nervous in the beginning and he made sure I knew that if there was anything he could do to make me comfortable, just to let him know. He’s so knowledgeable and really understood which horse would be the best for me and my husband. The ride on the trail was gorgeous and peaceful. We had a wonderful time and will 100% be going back!

Had a nice time there today with my niece. We were well instructed on how to ride before going out on the trail. Our horses were well matched to our skill.
I was saddled on George - he's old and "sturdy" like me - we're the perfect couple. And they had "stairs" so hopping on was easy (at 5'0" tall).
My niece rode Scout - appropriately younger and more spirited than my horse.
Our guides were great too - they made it the 4-star rating I gave. They offered good conversation before, during and after the ride. They made sure we were comfortable and going at a pace that suited us.
The trail itself was less than ideal due to some logging / clearing that's gone on. A nicer trail would easily make this a 5 star experience.

Had the absolutely BEST time on my ride! My guide was Sky and he was wonderful. I called them after another local place canceled on me after I was already at the farm. Deb was very nice and accommodating. I told Sky I wasn't a beginner, but not a "pro" either. Had a wonderful horse, took a nice long ride with some trotting and galloping. Sky was very enjoyable to talk to, telling me about the area. Highly recommend Horses For Hire!

I brought my girlfriend who had never ridden a horse before. Emma took us out and kind and friendly. My gf was scared at first but Emma put her at ease and made it a joy. I highly recommend!
